The first anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s death has recently passed, but it appears many of his supporters are accusing Netflix of taking shots at the late political activist. As a result, one of Kirk’s most famous supporters, Kevin Sorbo, went fuming in his Florida home and even called Netflix out for what he and the MAGA movement thought was a subtle insult directed at Kirk.
The controversy stemmed from Netflix UK & Ireland after they posted a screenshot from a Netflix media where an image of an actor looking back at another woman at his wedding was paired with the caption, “Nearly did himself a neck injury.” Apparently, for many Kirk and MAGA supporters, this was a jab towards the late activist, who was killed after his assassin shot him in the neck.
Sorbo, meanwhile, was among the first to condemn Netflix for their alleged post supposedly referencing Kirk’s death. The Florida-based Hercules star tweeted to his followers that “These people are sick,” alluding to Netflix. Moreover, the actor recalled that Netflix brought him in to discuss Christian movies but ultimately cancelled the plans, something Sorbo still seems resentful about.
For the record, Netflix hasn’t exactly stated that their post was related to Charlie Kirk. Nevertheless, Sorbo’s post and criticism towards Netflix have since gone viral, with hundreds of thousands of views on X and plenty more on other social media platforms, especially since other right-wing influencers and personalities have also called out Netflix for supposedly insulting Charlie Kirk’s death.
Sorbo’s tirade became a battleground
Numerous followers agreed with Sorbo’s sentiment towards Netflix, with some even commenting that they have already cancelled their subscription. “These people are pure trash, absolute garbage. [expletive] ALL OF YOU WHO WORK FOR NETFLIX. I wish the government would stop being [expletive] and just get rid of every single one of you liberal [expletive] [expletive],” fumes one commenter.
Others, however, explained to Sorbo that Netflix’s post might not have been related to Charlie Kirk at all, writing, “I doubt this was intended as a reference to Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Judging from the two images, it looks like Theo was wrenching his neck looking back at what’s her name. This is the UK Netflix, so this would be a very obscure reference to folks in the UK.”
Critics then mocked Sorbo, with one commenter alleging, “I’ll be honest. I see your name or Angel studio in the credits — I pass it on by.” Another commenter even posted an image of Sorbo’s role as a homosexual Spartan warrior in the parody movie Meet the Spartans, where he was kissing another man playing King Leonidas. In any case, the MAGA outrage towards Netflix’s seemingly innocuous post about neck injuries continues to be a highlight on Charlie Kirk’s death anniversary.
