‘Never Forget We Were Once United,’ Florida Locals Soured as the 9/11 Anniversary ‘United We Stand’ Message Clashes With Trump’s Way of Managing the Country

The 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attack is right around the corner, and like every year, the government, authorities, and citizens look for ways to commemorate it. Naturally, this year isn’t an exception. However, spirits don’t seem to be as high as in previous years. Today, some citizens in Florida noticed that there are signs with the “United We Stand” message on some highways, but they didn’t like them. Many believe these messages clash with what is happening in the country, turning a moment that should be honored into something a bit more sour.

Never Forget

Several Redditors have shared that Florida has started to put up signs to commemorate the 9/11 25th anniversary, which has also caught the attention of other news outlets in the state.

One of these examples is like the above image, which shows a 9/11 sign saying “United we stand. Never forget.” As you know, these phrases have appeared every year, and they have held a strong meaning for many Americans. Yet, it seems that isn’t the case at least right now, especially due to how Trump has been handling things across the country, and even making up some alleged fake stories regarding 9/11.

For the former, many citizens believe Trump still wants to divide the country, which is why they think the “United we stand” motto isn’t good to use nowadays. And to make matters worse, Trump just claimed he was rescued in the 9/11 attacks by two firefighters, which just stirred the pot further.

Florida Disappointed at 9/11 Signs and Trump’s Story

This sign on the highway seemed to disappoint many people, who shared less-than-hopeful messages about it online.

“Never forget we were once united.”

“We skipped that and went straight to divided we fall.”

Yet, others focused on Trump’s latest claim. For those unaware, he recently said two firefighters from the US Steel Building carried him out. However, according to several sources, Trump has contradicted himself several times, which makes the whole story worse every time he tells it, and with a new version at that.

“And now he’s confabulating that he was rescued by firemen on 9/11. Clearly, the lines between reality and fantasy are getting blurred.“

As you can see, the 25th anniversary of 9/11 has everyone’s spirits low, and many blame Trump as well as his administration for making the country feel more divided than ever.
