A group of parents in Florida reportedly called the police on a 3-year-old boy named Nevada because he was better at soccer than their children.
Nevada’s parents shared a video on TikTok showing their son playing soccer. The toddler demonstrated his skills by dribbling past several players who repeatedly tried to take the ball from him. He also managed to score a goal, while his father could be heard cheering him on from the sidelines.
The next part of the video showed police officers speaking with Nevada’s family. According to his father, other families whose children were playing at the same field had called the police on the toddler. “They called the police on the three-year-old cause he’s too good,” his father could be heard saying. He repeated the claim, explaining that the parents were upset because Nevada had held onto the ball for too long and no one else could get it from him.
The video then showed more clips of Nevada dribbling past other players and scoring goals. In subsequent footage, his family claimed they were being kicked out of the soccer field. Nevada and his family were seen walking away, saying that “they” had held a meeting about a three-year-old. The family also wrote in the caption, “Nevada was escorted out by the [police emoji] for being the best 3 year old in the world today. Psalms 91:7.”
In another video, a police officer could be heard telling Nevada’s family, “they want you guys to head out.” His mother then discussed how the other parents were “mad” at her 3-year-old son. She said her family did not even stand with the other families, so she could not understand why they would be upset with them. She also claimed that her family had never argued with the other parents. However, she said that “things” were said that day because she had seen adults standing in a huddle and talking about her son.
The family also shared a third video showing Nevada playing on the field as other children struggled to take the ball from him. The video then cut to footage of the responding police officers. One officer could be heard telling the parents, “The league office is gonna reach out to you” and explaining that the family would receive a refund.
Alongside the video, the family wrote in the caption, “The league kicked Nevada out because every week no one could take the ball from him some of the parent for the other team didn’t feel that it was fair mind you he is a 3 year old playing with 5 years old.” It remains unclear whether the family’s allegations are accurate or whether they intend to take legal action.
Viewers Outraged After Florida Parents Call Police on 3-Year-Old
Many viewers online expressed outrage after seeing how the Florida parents allegedly called the police on a 3-year-old. Since Nevada was black, some viewers believed racism played a role in the situation. “This is blatant racial discrimination. A 3-year-old kid just playing soccer gets treated like this. It’s totally ridiculous and unfair,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “People calling the police because a 3-year-old is making their 5-year-old look like a klutz is why such people should not be allowed to have children.”
Other viewers also criticized the parents over the incident. One person wrote, “He knew how to maneuver around them and kept the ball in front of him. He and dad put in the work and he most likely went to regular practices. We are taught at a very early age that we have to be ten times better. Whoever called the police should be ashamed of themselves.” Another commenter shared their opinion, saying, “here is my opinion… the ONLY opinion that matters. If they wanted him the pass the ball more, tell the parent nicely.”
The video also prompted viewers to discuss how parents should handle similar situations. Many argued that there were better ways to address their concerns than calling the police. Others expressed concern about how the experience could affect Nevada at such a young age.
