Florida Woman Claims Walmart Cashier Tried Embarrassing Her Over Disposable Underwear Purchase ‘I Don’t Understand What’s Supposed to Be Embarrassing About Buying Items That Are a Must’

There’s nothing embarrassing about that

Florida Woman Says Walmart Cashier Tried to Low-Key Embarrass Her for Buying Disposable Underwear

It’s sometimes astounding to find out that there are people who still think period products are embarrassing. It’s a natural part of life, but both men and women treat it like a taboo subject. This is exactly the line of thinking that drove a woman to have a strange interaction at a Walmart in Florida recently. When she was picking up products for herself, she never expected that a woman – much less a cashier – would try to embarrass her.

Kiara (@kiarajaxn) shared a TikTok of an experience at a local Walmart that alarmed her. As Kiara explains, she ran into a male-centered older female cashier working at Walmart while picking up period products. She said she prefers Always brand disposable period underwear during this time of the month, and she didn’t think anything of it when she made her purchase (because who would?) Kiara laughs as she says, “They’re diapers” but they’re a necessity.

Kiara grabs her ‘diapers,’ which she said she’s never been ashamed to buy, and walks to the checkout. As the female cashier bags her diapers, a man walks up behind Kiara to join the line. The cashier notices this and pulls the diapers out of the bag she was about to put them in. She then slams them onto the bagging carousel so everyone can see the diapers. Kiara says the man wasn’t even paying attention, so what was the point of doing this? On top of that, there was plenty of space to put the diapers in a bag without causing a scene. But she apparently wanted everyone in the vicinity to know that Kiara was buying them.

This weird behavior is all too common when people are taught that having a period is ‘taboo.’ It’s just a normal part of so many people’s lives. It’s also a behavior older women have carried with them, having been taught to be silent about natural bodily behaviors. Kiara goes on to say that the cashier saw that nobody gave her the reaction she was clearly looking for. When she noticed this, she took the diapers, put them back in a bag, and handed them to Kiara. Kiara asks, “So, what was the reason?”

Commenters agreed the behavior was strange and said they actually prefer those products, too. One commenter stated, “I love my period diapers, they’ve replaced pads completely for me, no shame in the game!” Another commenter said, “I don’t understand what’s supposed to be embarrassing about buying items that are a must.”
