Gut feeling doesn’t lie

Most people don’t think twice about a quick solo trip to the store. But for one Florida shopper, a stop for a bath rug turned into an unsettling experience after she became convinced two men were following her through Walmart. She says the encounter left her unwilling to shop there alone again.

The woman says she was left terrified after two men allegedly followed her through a nearly empty Walmart, prompting her to ask employees to walk her to her car.

TikTok creator Tasia Alexis shared the experience with her millions of followers through her @tasiaalexis account. She said the incident happened at a Walmart in Orange Park after she stopped to look for a checkered bath rug.

She said she initially brushed off an older man who greeted her while looking her up and down, but soon noticed another man repeatedly appearing near her as she moved through different aisles.

According to Alexis, the second man had a cart full of items but seemed to spend more time watching her than shopping. She said she tried changing directions and moving between aisles to determine whether she was simply imagining the encounters.

“I’m thinking, maybe this is just a coincidence. Maybe you’re just being weird,” she recalled.

Her concerns grew when she said she saw another man meet up with the shopper she had been watching. Alexis said both men appeared to be using their phones and continued moving around the store while she tried to keep her distance.

“They’re literally walking opposite direction, but they’re circling me,” she said.

Alexis said she deliberately stayed closer to the front of the store and repeatedly changed direction. At one point, she found herself in the men’s section, where she said there was almost nobody around.

“I gotta get out of here. There’s not enough people here for me,” she recalled thinking.

Eventually, she spotted two Walmart employees and asked for help. She told them she believed the two men were following her and asked if they could escort her outside.

“They’re following me. They got stuff in their buggy. They’re not even putting nothing in their buggy,” she told the employees, according to her account. “Can you please walk me out to my car?”

The employees then accompanied her to her vehicle, allowing her to leave the store safely.

After returning home, Alexis said the experience had changed how comfortable she felt shopping alone. “I’m not going to Walmart by myself again,” she said. She also speculated that the relatively quiet store may have made her more vulnerable, although no independent evidence shows why the men were moving through the store or whether they were actually following her.

Reflecting on the encounter, she described it as the “scariest moment ever.”

The video sparked heavy debate online, with many commenters sharing their own instincts and frustrations. “Swear us women can’t just live in peace,” one commenter said. Another echoed that sentiment with a rallying cry: “Ladies, stay weird. Stay loud. And make a expletive scene.”

Others focused on timing and their own limits. “Why do people have to creep so early in the mornin,” one commenter asked. Others said the encounter reinforced their own reluctance to go places alone. “This is why I refuse to go anywhere by myself,” one viewer wrote.

although there is no independent evidence establishing why the men were moving through the store or whether they were actually following her. What is clear is that Alexis became uncomfortable enough to change directions repeatedly before asking Walmart employees for help. Rather than risk finding out whether her instincts were right, she chose the safer option and left the store with an employee escort.
