Food Network’s Robert Irvine is shocked that Restaurant Impossible is (kind of) canceled. The show revolved around Irvine helping out failing establishments. He would go in and hang around for a bit and figure out what the problem was with each business. Sometimes it would be bartenders giving away free drinks all the time. Other times it could be a boss who was too rude to his staff. He would then give them an assessment and tell them what they needed to do to save said business.
Often he would also follow up. He would go back to see if they implemented the changes and if it helped. It was entertaining, but it was so much more than that. It gave failing businesses another shot at getting it right. So it managed to do good while also being inherently watchable. So you can imagine his shock at the recent news of it not being renewed for a third season.
Robert Irvine Talks Restaurant Impossible Cancellation
Food Network’s Robert Irvine has thoughts on the Restaurant Impossible cancellation. Though the cancellation isn’t written in stone, the lack of a renewal tells you all you need to know. In the above Twitter thread, we hear his take on it. He says that Food Network just didn’t believe it brought in young viewers. Young viewers are the ideal audience as they grow with the show and tend to stay with it. Though people are defending him, there is little anyone can do for the show.
But we also need to keep in mind the show lasted 22 seasons. That in itself is a great deal longer than most shows on just about any network out there. Perhaps it is best to go out while people still talk fondly about your show.
