“Boost into a Runaway Boulder and dislodge it with a Baller.” is one of the Week 2 Quests of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3. Rewarding participants with 15,000 XP upon completion, this quest requires players to get into a Baller and use its Boost ability to ram straight into a Runaway Boulder, causing it to tumble from its mound of pebbles. Ballers were previously available since Chapter 2 Season 8 but were Vaulted in Update v10.00. Therefore, newcomers or even regular players might not know or have forgotten how these Ballers work. Understanding how to ride a Baller in Fortnite is essential for boosting into a Runaway Boulder.

Fortnite: Where to Find the Grapple Glove
Controlling a Baller is similar to how one could imagine being inside a hamster ball would feel. This Vehicle in Fortnite can be tricky to steer due to its lack of friction during movement. Fortunately, Ballers are capable of quickly repositioning themselves with their Grapple. The Grapple allows players to ascend slopes and elevated surfaces or get to areas they would have otherwise been unable to reach. Understanding how to use the Grapple will aid players in completing the Runaway Boulder quest. Here is a list of controls for operating the Baller’s Grapple:
- PC: Left Mouse Button
- Xbox: RT Button
- PlayStation: R2 Button
- Nintendo Switch: ZR Button
To release the Grapple, simply press the same button again.
Once players have grasped how to ride the Baller, they can proceed to boost the vehicle onto a Runaway Boulder to finish the Fortnite quest. The most convenient route is by taking one of the Ballers near the eastern outer elevated track of Rave Cave. These are less contested than the Ballers in Cuddly Team Leader’s head. Next, head to the small mountain in the northeast and use the Grapple to reach the top. Be wary of camping players, as some might try to grief those attempting to complete the quest. Press one of the Buttons mentioned above to Boost into the rock and receive the XP reward.
Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
