Fortnite: Battle Royale will be introducing a new limited time mode starting tomorrow starring the Mad Titan Thanos himself. As if Marvel and Fortnite weren’t popular enough as it is.

Fortnite

The limited time mode will be called Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup. It is much like your standard Fortnite: Battle Royale with a twist. The Infinity Gauntlet will spawn somewhere on the map. When you find and equip it, you will then turn into Thanos and receive his powers.

We won’t know what those powers will be or how the player can use the Infinity Gauntlet until the mode arrives May 8th. If I had to guess, the ultimate abilities of the gauntlet won’t be available for the player as I’m not sure that Fortnite could handle that type of power.

If you are wondering why Marvel is diving into the ever-growing monster that is Fortnite, look no further than Avengers: Infinity War’s directors Joe and Anthony Russo. According to EW, the brothers are “massive Fortnite fans”.

In the interview with EW, Joe Russo said that they would take breaks from editing Infinity War to play a few games and eventually the directors started brainstorming about the possibility of an “Avengers-Fortnite mashup”.

Donald Mustard, the creative director for Epic Games, was also apart of the interview and he had this to say regarding how this idea came to form:

“Out of the blue, I get this call from Joe. And after a bit of geeking out over each other’s work, we start brainstorming these crazy ideas. It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War and something that fans of both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”

Again, this mode will be available starting tomorrow, May 8th for a limited time on all of Fortnite: Battle Royale platforms.
