Fortnite has received the new 17.50 update, so here’s all that’s been changed and added with this patch! We’re finally at the last update before the next major content update, which means the next you hear of a Fortnite update, we’ll be in the next season. With that, there isn’t anything crazy happening this week in the battle royale. Still, there are a few events worth noting, such as various alien tools becoming easier to get just before they’re retired for next season. If you’re curious about everything else though, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s all that’s new with Fortnite update 17.50!

Fortnite Update 17.50 Patch Notes

Wild Week #3 of the Invasion: High Tech Hijinks

Fortnite High Tech Hijinks Wild Week 17.50

Starting this Thursday at 10 AM ET (don’t ask how we know the specifics), Alien and IO tech will be easier to find than ever. In fact, Abductors will ONLY carry the Kymera Ray Gun, Grab-itron, Prop-ifier, and Alien Nanites. Likewise, IO Chests will ONLY give the Pulse Rifle, Rail Gun, Plasma Cannon, and Inflate-A-Bull.

The Aliens and IO actually produced so much stuff that they’re running out of space. As a result, you’ll find the Kymera Ray Gun, Pulse Rifle, and Rail Gun even in normal Chests now.

While you’re using a bunch of Alien and IO weapons, earn XP in the process! This week will have two Legendary Quest chains: one for dealing damage with Alien weapons and one with IO weapons. Choose either one — or go for both!

Our research shows that one Wild Week remains after “High Tech Hijinks.” Expect all the details in a future memo.

Discover Games in a New Way

If you’ve already opened the game after v17.50’s release, you probably noticed the playlist menu looks a lot different! With v17.50, we launched a new and improved way to discover games and experiences in Fortnite. Jumping into classics like Solo, Duos, and Squads is as simple as ever, but discovering other games or experiences that suit your tastes — whether made by Epic or the community — has never been easier.

With new additions like categories and tags, find exactly the kind of game or experience you’re looking for. And with the new “My Library,” jump into ones you favorited or played recently. Find out more in our blog post on these changes!

Mothership on the Move

Slurpy Swamp’s been abducted, Coral Castle’s been abducted, and soon the Mothership will be moving to its third target. The next POI abduction of the Invasion awaits…

Major Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue involving being unable to use inventory items after swapping from a Prop-ifier to a Consumable.

Misc.

  • We’ve reduced the number of Epic Quests needed to unlock Superman’s additional rewards.
    • Previous: 63 / 68 / 73 / 78 / 84 Quests
    • New: 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 Quests
  • Please note that the High Tech Hijinks Wild Week will not apply to competitive playlists.

Overall, the 17.50 update for Fortnite looks to do some cleanup more than anything. Though with that being said, the new Playlist menu is sure to make things a bit easier. That, and you’ll get to experience some new games that you wouldn’t have had the chance to experience otherwise. The reduction in epic quests needed for Superman’s rewards is a nice touch too, even if many have completed the quests anyways.

Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. For more information regarding this update, check out the official blog post.
