Marc Siegel, a senior medical analyst for Fox News based in New York, is facing backlash online after comments in which he discussed a decline in teen pregnancy rates.

Siegel appeared on America’s Newsroom on Fox News to discuss newly released CDC data showing that the U.S. fertility rate reached a record low in 2025. During the discussion, he made comments that have since drawn attention online.

In a viral clip from the interview, Siegel spoke to Dana Perino about fertility rates in the United States. He said, “Absolutely. We still have 3.6 million births a year. But the problem is teens and young adults from ages 15 to 19 the fertility rate is down seven percent, and it’s down 70% over the last two decades, meaning we’re telling people that are young not to have babies, to wait until they’re in a more stable life situation ’til they’re more financially secure. Maybe they haven’t found the right partner,” he said. The comments prompted criticism from some viewers online.

The video is gaining attention due to comments made by Siegel during a discussion about declining fertility rates in the United States, including figures related to individuals aged 15 to 19. His remarks prompted discussion online about how the data was being interpreted and what age groups should be the focus of conversations around family planning and fertility trends.

Internet Users Reacting to Fox News New York Analyst’s Comments

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers criticized the comments made by the New York analyst, particularly his discussion of teen fertility rates and the framing of the issue. “Ages 15–19 should be about school, dreams, and growing up not adults normalizing teen pregnancy on national TV. Deeply unsettling,” one person wrote. Another added, “Yes, seriously demented thinking ..I’ve been around a longtime & I have never seen any political party be pro teen pregnancies…which leads to poverty, one parent homes and often a lost future for mom & baby. These people are out of their minds.”

Some users also directed criticism toward the Republican Party in response to the comments about teen fertility rates. “Well this is a bit of a change in position for the family values party,” one person wrote. Another added, “The U.S. economy is an epic failure, neoliberalism revealed as a scam, wage & wealth inequality at all time highs, 60% of Americans can’t afford the basics.. But sure, let’s blame kids for behaving responsibly & not bringing children into Trump’s psychotic, [expletive] up, ring of hell.”

The remarks made by Marc Siegel sparked discussion online, with users debating the interpretation and appropriateness of his comments.
