Fox News reporter Raymond Arroyo has landed in hot water due to his comments about Black Voters and Donald Trump. The controversy began shortly after Donald Trump’s new sneakers line was released. While many ridiculed the former president’s decision to release the sneakers line, Arroyo insisted it would help Trump win Black votes in the upcoming election. According to him, the Black community loved shoes and, therefore, would connect more with Trump than with Joe Biden.
Arroyo Links Trump’s New Sneakers Line to the Black Community
Over the weekend, Trump made a surprise appearance at Sneakers Con in Philadelphia. There, Donald Trump unveiled his self-branded sneakers line, including the gold “Never Surrender High Top Sneaker,” selling for $399. After the limited edition shoes sold out, Arroyo suggested Trump would earn the Black community’s votes at the election because he was selling athletic shoes.
“So when you have Trump roll out his sneaker line, they’re like, ‘Wait a minute, this is cool,” Arroyo said on Fox’s Big Weekend Show on Sunday.
“He’s reaching them on a level that defies and is above politics. The culture always trumps politics, and Trump understands culture like no politician I’ve ever seen,” he elaborated further.
The journalist’s fellow panelist, Tomi Lahren, was skeptical about the theory, but Arroyo remained confident. He noted that anyone willing to pay $400 for a pair of sneakers showcased commitment and love, which meant something.
Arroyo’s Thoughts on Black Voters and Donald Trump Leaves Fans Appalled
Unfortunately, Arroyo’s comments about Black voters and Donald Trump didn’t sit right with fans. On Instagram, The Shade Room reposted a series of comments from fans, who took turns to bash Arroyo. One fan shared that they were highly offended and irritated by the way people played with Black people’s intelligence.
“First one said if we don’t vote that means we ain’t black and now this one saying we will vote for Trump cuz we love sneakers. The sneakers ain’t even all of that WTF,” they added.
A second fan shared that as an educated woman, the sneakers wouldn’t tempt her to vote for Trump. She added:
“Republicans don’t care how foolish they sound when it comes to earning the Black vote. This is such a racist statement but it’s to be expected coming from Fox.”
A third person noted:
“They really have no respect for Black people. Black people will vote for Trump because we like sneakers. You can’t make this s**t up.”
Another annoyed fan opined:
“This melanin deficient talking head thinks Black people are going to vote for Trump because ‘Black people love sneakers’…Racists say the dumbest things.”
Meanwhile, the election is scheduled for November 5, 2024, and tensions will definitely be on the rise as the day draws closer.
