There’s no shortage of options in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred and the new Spiritborn class proves this even more so. You might even feel a bit overwhelmed, so what we’ve done here is cook up a guide for your Spiritborn leveling build in Diablo 4. This Spiritborn leveling build ensures fun and fast-paced gameplay to help you zoom through the content all the way to the start of the endgame or at least to Level 60.

D4 Spiritborn Leveling Build Gear
Gear is finicky since you’ll be swapping gear around a lot. However, there are a couple of Aspects that you will need to treat as constants because they enable the build and also allow you to move and farm faster compared to other leveling builds.
Make sure to always have the following Aspects as soon as you can:
Aspect Name | Gear Slot |
Rebounding Aspect | Amulet/Weapon |
Aspect of Haste | Boots |
Aspect of Turbulence | Pants/Gloves |
Aspect of Disobedience | Chest |
Aspect of Falling Feathers (optional) | Weapon/Gloves |
Aspect of Momentum (optional) | Amulet |
In addition, certain gear stats are more ideal and preferable, such as:
- Vulnerable Damage
- Dexterity
- Attack Speed
- Movement Speed
- Critical Damage / Critical Chance
- Armor
- Maximum Life
- Attacks Reduce Evade’s Cooldown (mandatory for Boots)
- Polearm weapon (mandatory)
For Tempering, the obvious choice is to pick Eagle Damage, Movement Speed, or anything related to Quill Volley, assuming you get lucky with the Tempering Recipes. Don’t worry too much if you don’t have the Tempering as the build is still viable and fun without them.
You’ll eventually have more room for improvement as you get closer to Level 60 in this Diablo 4 Spiritborn build. For now, don’t worry too much about gear, and don’t get too attached to them while you’re below Level 60.
For that matter, I also wouldn’t fuss too much about Runewords as you’re still swapping your gear around too often. Moving Runes around can be costly and not something you’d want if your initial materials are limited.
Spirit Hall Animals
Seeing as we’ve gone almost all-in on Eagle, of course, you would also want to pick Eagle as your Primary Spirit Hall Guardian. The Eagle Spirit Guardian is stacked with Vulnerability effects that synergize all too well with the rest of the build.
As for the Secondary Spirit Hall Guardian, it’s more flexible. However, if you prefer to play in Penitent difficulty, I would recommend sticking with Centipede. It allows your character to be tankier through rapid regeneration as long as you poison them with Toxic Skin.
If you’re not worried about dying too much, then Jaguar would be the next best recommendation we have.
D4 Season 6 Spiritborn Leveling Build Gameplay
It’s not a complex build but there’s a certain skill sequence you’ll want to observe when entering combat. This ensures a higher damage output and smoother gameplay for the build.
- Start with Soar to group enemies.
- Activate Toxic Skin
- Use your Ultimate, The Seeker
- Evade once.
- Use Quill Volley, empty your Resource.
- Once your Resource is empty, Evade again until it’s full.
- Use Quill Volley again, empty your Resource, and then keep repeating steps 3-4.
- Use Basic Attacks to recharge your Evade if you’re out of Resource.
- If you get crowd-controlled, use Armored Hide or Soar to get out of the tight spot.
- For bosses, ensure that you’re in melee range before spamming Quill Volley.
The general idea is to swap around Evade and Quill Volley as even your Evade will shoot out its own free Quill Volley. If there are lots of enemies on-screen, you’ll usually never run out of Resource with this kind of feedback loop.
You might run out of Resource for bosses, but that’s nothing a few Basic Attacks can’t fix, and they usually won’t be a threat. For the record, this Spiritborn build for Diablo 4 can transfer into Penitent difficulty as early as Level 25 or Level 30, but you will need to be careful if your gear doesn’t have proper Armor or Life.
Once you get to Level 60, consider swapping to endgame builds if you can’t improve this one further starting at Torment I.
