Nancy Lee Grahn is famous for playing Alexis Davis on General Hospital. For nearly 28 years, she’s played Port Charles’ resident lawyer. Like her character, the star sometimes finds herself embroiled in drama. Like many soap stars, Grahn is active on social media. The actress isn’t shy about expressing her opinions on political and society issues. However, her latest posts regarding co-star Kelly Monaco has sparked backlash.
The character Alexis has three daughters: Sam McCall, Kristina Corinthos, and Molly Lansing Davis. As with many actresses, Grahn has a close relationship with the women who play her daughters.
On June 13, Grahn posted a heartfelt message on X for the current and former actresses who play her onscreen daughters. She praised Lexi Ainsworth and Haley Pullos, who previously played Kristina and Molly, respectively. She also had kind words for Kate Mansi and Kristen Vaganos, who currently play Alexis’ youngest daughters.
However, there was one name missing from the post, and that’s Monaco, who plays Alexis’ eldest daughter Sam.
Realizing her post might cause a commotion, the General Hospital actress clarified why she omitted Monaco’s name.
Don’t think of Kelly as my kid. Relate to her as a friend. She’s beautifully middle aged to my senior. That’s all. There’s no there there. Love Kelly. Let’s all play nice in the GH community. So much to be upset about out there, let’s just enjoy each other in this safe place, eh?
Nancy is 20 years older than Kelly, and while many fans understood her thoughts, others were upset. In the comment section, people criticized the Daytime Emmy winner for her exclusion and comments about Monaco.
One commenter said Kelly’s age shouldn’t be a factor in Nancy Lee’s post:
Kelly is still your TV daughter no matter her age and you leave her out. Not cool. How would you feel in her shoes? It’s such a glaring omission.
Another follower noticed Nancy continuously excluding Kelly from posts:
2nd time (that I’m aware of) that you mentioned your TV daughters and 2nd time you have purposefully left Kelly out. Your lack of respect for Kelly hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Another fan wondered if there was problems between the co-stars:
I struggled with how to touch this subject but it’s the second time in a very short amount of time that you make these daughter tweets very clearly leaving Kelly out. If you had a falling out I hope you work through it. I always loved your offscreen bond.
Grahn’s post certainly created a firestorm with soap opera fans. The actress and Monaco are close in real-life and often hang out away from the set. As for what the status of their friendship is now is unclear, but their characters will be sharing more screentime together as the Davis girls deal with drama.
