General Hospital continues to prop their new character Natalia Rogers-Ramirez. Since her February 2024 debut, she’s been pushed front and center on the soap opera. From the start, the momager caused issues for her daughter Blaze. Natalia disapproved of Blaze’s relationship with Kristina Corinthos-Davis. Fearing it’d hurt Blaze’s music career, the momager ordered her daughter to keep her personal life private. But now the couple’s relationship is out in the open.
Ava Jerome leaked a tape of Natalia making homophobic remarks about Blaze and Kristina’s lifestyle. A scandal ensued resulting in Blaze being dropped by her record label and Kristina stepping down from her job. When confronted by Blaze and Kristina, Natalia apologized, but the damage was already done.
General Hospital Fans Don’t See Natalia as the Victim in This Storyline
Blaze and Kristina have suffered the most from the fallout, but with Brook Lynn Quartermaine’s help, they’re doing damage control. On the July 24th episode, the couple did a TV interview with Perez Hilton.
When the topic of the recording came up, they had an interesting response. “Natalia is the real victim here,” Kristina said. “I think the only person who has something to be ashamed of is the person who made the recording in the first place.”
Since the scandal, Ava is the one who’s been made out to look like a villain. While she was wrong to release the recording, it was Natalia who said those awful words. Yet, Sonny Corinthos and now Kristina and Blaze are defending her.
General Hospital is already receiving criticism for the storyline, but portraying Natalia as a victim is wrong. On X, fans blasted the show for whitewashing Natalia’s homophobic comments.
You turned the bigot into the victim…in today’s society?! This story is awful #GH
Another commenter called for the writers to be fired over the storyline:
This story is disgusting. It’s insulting to LGBT+ viewers, which I am part of. I refuse to return to watching General Hospital until everyone who had a hand in writing and green-lighting this awful joke of a “storyline” is replaced, and hopefully, an apology issued.
One viewer agreed nobody wants to watch this storyline:
this is absolute trash. Natalia is NOT any sort of victim. she’s vile and the writers/producers are tone deaf if they think anyone wants this angle. The only victims at this point are the viewers watching this tone deaf drivel. #gh watching ratings slide 18 weeks straight!
General Hospital fans have grown frustrated with the show’s writing. The latest propping of Natalia is one of the reasons why viewers are tuning out. Chances are the writers aren’t done because they’ll eventually have Blaze and Kristina forgive her, and forget everything that happened. If the writers go that direction, it’s going to cause more angry fans.
