With version 4.1 of Genshin Impact came new characters, more stories, and even a new map. This new area included the Fortress of Meropide, a sub-area of the Liffey Region, and Fontaine’s Prison. Here, the worst criminals are sent after being tried for Neuvillette. While many are enjoying these areas, new leaks from Genshin Impact suggest another possible expansion for Fontaine’s map in version 4.2. If this is true, this nation might rival Sumeru in terms of size.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Map Expansion Might Be Located East of Fontaine
With the past expansion of the Fontaine territory, many theorized that it would reveal the unknown area between the Anemo Nation and the Hydro one. But this was not the case. Instead, the 4.1 update introduced new zones to the north, the Liffey Region and the Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy. Both regions included 2 new bosses, materials, and, of course, chests. Version 4.2 leaks show a possible map expansion in Genshin Impact, located east of Fontaine. According to the map, it would include the eastern part of the Slopes of Mount Automnequi and the area beyond Opera Epiclese to a new island and archipelago.

Some fans still believe that the space between Fontaine, Liyue, and Mondstadt is the location of Celestia. This place could be the portal to the city of the gods and the end game of Genshin Impact. Some others believe that more zones will be added to complete the missing part of the map. Meanwhile, everyone is waiting for HoYoverse for official information. Fontaine started its story in pach 4.0, so there is still much to explore and learn about the nation of justice. Hopefully, the developers won’t take long to reveal what it is planning for its faithful Travelers.
