George Clooney is the target of fans’ wrath, and it’s all thanks to his wife, Amal Clooney. After months of silence on the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, the human rights activist finally revealed her hand. It appears Amal worked on a report for the International Criminal Court to prosecute Israeli and Hamas leaders for war crimes. Part of the recommendations made include a warrant for the arrest of Israel’s PM. As a result, the Clooneys have become public enemy No.1.
Amal is part of a team of legal experts who advised the ICC to seek arrest warrants. The panel released a report on Monday agreeing that three Hamas leaders and two Israeli politicians, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, committed war crimes against humanity.
“The attacks by Hamas in Israel on October 7 and the military response by Israeli forces in Gaza have tested the system of international law to its limits,” the report read per OK Magazine.
Following the report’s release, Mrs. Clooney released a personal statement detailing her involvement. In a message shared on the Clooney Foundation for Justice website, the actor’s wife wrote:
“I served on this Panel because I believe in the rule of law and the need to protect civilian lives. As a human rights lawyer, I will never accept that one child’s life has less value than another’s. I do not accept that any conflict should be beyond the reach of the law, nor that any perpetrator should be above the law. So I support the historic step that the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has taken to bring justice to victims of atrocities in Israel and Palestine.”

Amal also addressed her perceived silence over the war. “My approach is not to provide a running commentary of my work but to let the work speak for itself,” she wrote.

Unfortunately, Amal’s political stance on the ongoing war didn’t sit well with many fans. They took to the internet to bash her, calling her several unpleasant names. One disappointed fan wrote, “Why are you losers absolving Amal Clooney? She’s a clown and always will be.” Another declared, “Amal Clooney appears to be a terrorist supporter. No more Nespresso for me. I don’t support Hamas terrorists. Bring back the hostages! Disgusting human!”
A third fan shared a similar sentiment, writing, “Amal Clooney and her lecherous husband had been canceled in my book for their hypocrisy, moral bankruptcy, and sense of entitlement, much before this. They are the worst kind of parasites.” Others slammed the Clooney Foundation for Justice, writing:
“Too little too late from the Clooney Foundation. Why didn’t you speak before the decision came out? Were you afraid of offending Zionist donors? So much for independent legal justice.”
