This past week, VP JD Vance was in Peachtree City, Georgia, trying to get families to commit to the White House’s One Big Beautiful Bill. What better place to try and push the bill than a working-class, suburban community, right? Well, it’s clear that JD Vance doesn’t know a whole lot about the cities he’s visiting. Vance and Trump think that fear-mongering is the best way to appeal to families. Then, they’ll think crime is taking over our cities one by one. Apparently, he thought the best way to appeal to Peachtree City citizens was to warn them that crime is in their very neighborhood. One TikToker isn’t buying it.
Harison (@harison_m_r) shared his story on TikTok after he discovered JD Vance visited the city he’s been living in for a decade. When he visited Peachtree City, which is 30 minutes from Atlanta, he said some derogatory comments that had Harison raising his eyebrow. Apparently, Vance made Peachtree sound like a place overrun by crime. He said that families will “cross the street” to “avoid a crazy person yelling.” He also said that families live in fear of the crime happening around them in this particular part of Georgia.
This was apparently Vance’s chance to push the bill. He stated, “Those are your streets, paid for with your tax dollars, and you ought to be able to use them like any other citizen of this country.” But what Vance said doesn’t make much sense, especially to Harison. Remember, he has been a citizen of Peachtree City for several years. He says that Peachtree is a “Golf Cart Community” and “peak white suburbia.”
Harison then says that Vance is describing the area he lives as “some sort of caricature of an inner city dystopia.” He also stated that people don’t cross the street to avoid criminals in his area. Instead, he said, they cross the street to avoid people like JD Vance. He said that traffic was headed in the “opposite direction that you were.” In the end of his video, he finishes by saying, “Screw you, JD Vance.”
Other commenters agreed that what JD Vance had to say was ridiculous and downright untrue. It is true, however, that Vance and Trump will tout whatever just so that they can push their bills. One commenter laughed, stating, “I’m in Atlanta and I’ve been to Peachtree City. You are right! It made me feel weird because it was all Golf Carts going to Chic Fil A.” Another person pointed out, “The craziest thing that has ever happened in Peachtree City is white wine getting spilled on a Lily Pulitzer paisley skirt.” That’s probably true but obviously JD Vance can’t comprehend what crime-ridden actually means.
