Leaning into its MMORPG side, Once Human also lets you trade with other players unconventionally through the Vending Machine. It’s a special building that was borrowed from Fallout 76‘s very own Vending Machine mechanic (and it works identically too). More than anything, the Vending Machine is a good way to make some effortless income whether through barter or Energy Link (currency). Here’s how to get the Vending Machine in Once Human 1.0 and how to use it.

You can start with the Memetics screen. You’ll find the Vending Machine Memetic in the 03 segment of the Logistics tab. Thankfully, it’s not connected to any other Memetic node so you don’t need to worry about spending extra Ciphers or Energy Links to unlock it.

Even so, the Vending Machine isn’t that cheap compared to the other starting Memetics, you’ll need the following to unlock it:

x5 Ciphers
700 Energy Link

Once you’ve unlocked it, select Facilities, and under that, select Function Facilities. You’ll find the Vending Machine structure there, available for building. The structure itself will require electricity, so you might want to unlock and build the Solar Generator first (Logistics 03). Each Vending Machine consumes 2W of electricity.

In order to build the Vending Machine, you also need the following materials:

x20 Steel Ingot
x10 Copper Ingot
x8 Standard Part
x3 Electronic Part
x6 Glass

Remember to wire your Solar Generators or other power sources to the Vending Machine, otherwise, it won’t work. Additionally, placing the Vending Machine outside your house is ideal so other players can access it more easily.

Once you have your Vending Machine built and wired, all you have to do is walk up to it and use it. You’ll find a list of the items you can sell on the left side. On the right side, you can see your pricing.

You can either barter or sell your items for Energy Link. Simply select the items on the left and set whether you want an item exchange or Energy Link price for it.

Afterward, other players can walk up to your Vending Machine and buy something from it. To increase your chances of getting a sale or a trade, you can also set up a message on your Vending Machine as some kind of advertisement.

You’ll want to put your rarest or most in-demand items (such as Acid, for example) in the Vending Machine and its message board to entice other players. You can also buy from other players’ Vending Machines and maybe even flip items (buy low, sell high) depending on scarcity.
