The Activision-Blizzard deal with Microsoft is the gaming industry’s biggest acquisition of all time, but Nvidia and Google now have problems with that. As the deal is big, we heard numerous discussions and problems about it. Some fans were concerned about the harm of the competition between Xbox and Sony. Even after the many announcements about the Call of Duty and PlayStation partnership, the problems are not ended. The concerns are increasing, and Nvidia and Google joined the companies that don’t support the acquisition. Both companies are worried about the acquisition’s probable unfair competition results. Here are the statements that came from the company about the deal.
Google and Nvidia Are Concerned About Activision-Blizzard Deal
According to Bloomberg, Nvidia and Google reported their concerns about the deal to FTC. As their lawyers say, the deal might give Microsoft an unfair advantage in cloud gaming, subscription-based services, and mobile games. If you remember, Microsoft defended itself by reporting that it wanted to buy the company mostly for developing mobile games. And this is something that could affect Google and Nvidia’s mobile game projects.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is a direct rival of Nvidia GeForce Now. Otherwise, Google killed its cloud service, Stadia, in the last months. But Nvidia is one of the companies that are getting affected directly.
The only problem isn’t Activision-Blizzard’s further mobile game plans. The studio owns a few popular games like Candy Crush Saga. Their management by Microsoft could be a threat to Google’s mobile game plans. In a low possibility, Microsoft might carry the game to a new store and cut down the cash flow for one of the biggest games on the Play Store.
The acquisition is already completed in a few countries, but it’s not approved yet in the USA. We hope to see more accessibility for the games, not less.
