DC’s Gotham Academy returns as part of the DC’s Saved by the Belle Reve #1 one-shot. The super-sized anthology special celebrates the beginning of another school year with eight brand-new stories heading back to school. Per CBR, a massively talented creative team brings new stories featuring the Suicide Squad, Jean-Paul Valley, Tiny Titans, and more.
What Happens In Gotham Academy?
Becky Cloonan, Brenden Fletcher, and Karl Kerschl bring the Gotham Academy back in the upcoming special. This is the same creative team that launched the property back in 2014. It follows Olive Silverlock as she enrolls in a prestigious school in the center of Gotham City. At the school, Silverlock becomes friends with Mia “Maps” Mizoguchi and has the occasional run-in with other DC Universe characters.
Unfortunately, not much is known about what this special one-shot will focus on. Although sticking to the back-to-school theme, it will likely follow Silverlock as she enters another year at Gotham Academy.
What Else Is In This Special?
Beyond the return of Gotham Academy, DC’s Saved by the Belle Reve #1 features a “Back to School” story that follows Damian Wayne and Jon Kent. It comes from the creative team of Peter J. Tomasi and Max Raynor. There is also a Green Arrow and Speedy tale titled “Earn It Back” from Dave Wielgosz and Mike Norton. Meanwhile. a Tiny Titans reunion takes place between Art Balthazar and Franco. Plus, the Black Lightning story, “This Is Why,” from Brandon Thomas and Craig Cermak.
If that wasn’t enough to get you excited, the anthology special also includes an Azrael story, “How Angels Are Made,” by Dan Watters and Juan Ferreyra. Finally, Nightwing and Batgirl take center stage in “A Night Off” by the creative team of Andrew Aydin and Nelson Daniel.
The 80-page DC’s Saved by the Belle Reve #1 hits shelves on August 30, just in time for back-to-school.
