Final Fantasy 16 has one of the most amazing visuals we’ve seen in recent years. With the powerful hardware of PlayStation 5, players now have the option to choose whether they want their game to look better or run smoother. But which should they choose? Here’s which is better in Final Fantasy 16 between the graphics mode and framerate options.

In Final Fantasy 16 players can choose to run the game in two different modes:

  • Performance Mode with 60FPS and 1080p or 1440p
  • Quality Mode the game will run at 4K but only with 30FPS.

So, which is actually better? Well, running at 60 frames per second, the game will run much smoother, which tends to suit intense action games. On the other hand, you will lose amazing visual fidelity if you have a 4K TV or gaming monitor. It is up to you to decide whether you want smooth gameplay or visual fidelity.

Still, there are a few things you should know about the options, especially in the case of Final Fantasy 16. Recently the demo of the game was released and it struggles to reach 60 frames per second consistently. On the other hand, when you run the game on 4K and 30 frames per second, there are hardly any frame drops. Now, we’re expecting these issues to be resolved with a day-one patch, as they often are, but it’s still worth keeping in mind.

Actually, though, in our opinion, more frames are still preferred over a slightly unstable one. FF16 is a fast-paced action game that really deserves the smooth performance of a high framerate. We think the best option is still the performance mode. If you’re a stickler for visual quality then, sure, go for the 4K, 30 option. Honestly, though, you’re hardly going to notice the lack of quality when you’re in the heat of battle.

Ultimately, of course, the choice is up to you, and thankfully you can keep switching back and forth until you settle on your preference.

Final Fantasy 16 is only available for PlayStation 5.
