It’s been a long while since anyone has heard any new details about the Gravity Rush movie being developed by PlayStation Productions. Fans of the gravity-power-wielding Kat have been waiting to see what a Gravity Rush movie would look like since it was first announced to be in production. But we may have finally gotten a quick glimpse at the film within Sony’s CES presentation.

During Sony’s CES 2024 presentation in Las Vegas, a very quick clip of the Gravity Rush movie was shown. The full presentation at the show was around an hour, which featured looks at new technology being used in a variety of ways. When pipeline technical director Rey Jarrell was discussing the importance of helping filmmakers with their visions, a clip of Kat jumping off a building was shown from the Gravity Rush movie.

“We want to make sure filmmakers feel very comfortable just being creative and playing around using the technology as a tool, not a barrier.” As Rey talked in the video, a clip of people working together is shown holding up a motion capture actor, as if they’re in a free fall like Kat is in the movie. The short tease also includes a quick look at what may be the Nevi, enemies that appear in the Gravity Rush games. Kat is flying through the air toward the large enemy as both of them are above a floating city.

Although no other details about the Gravity Rush film are included in the presentation, there was enough for fans to notice. What’s catching their eye is the new look for Kat in the clip, which is different from her appearance in both Gravity Rush titles. Whether this is just a short part of the film where Kat has a new outfit or not, the blonde hair and dark clothing are enough to convince everyone who the character is. It may be possible that she gets her definitive outfit in another portion of the film, not featured in this short tease.

The first Gravity Rush game was developed by Japan Studio and released in 2012 for the PlayStation Vita. It was later remastered and brought to PlayStation 4 in 2016. Gravity Rush 2 was developed after the success of the original and released in 2017, also for PlayStation 4.

While the character of Kat appeared in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, the Gravity Rush series didn’t get a follow-up after the second game. It was only until the announcement of the Gravity Rush movie that the series was brought back into the public consciousness in 2022, with PlayStation Productions and Scott Free Productions working together on the film. After this quick tease during the CES presentation, we might get to see a full trailer of the movie sometime soon.
