It’s called Hedge Lab, but it might as well be a hedge maze due to how difficult it is to find and traverse. It’s one of your main destinations in Grounded, sadly, and you’ll have to grit your teeth. But worry not, because I went to the Hedge Lab with my friend in multiplayer. She sacrificed herself, falling down to her death from those precarious branches so that I could guide you better on how to find the Hedge Lab in Grounded.

Generally, the Hedge Lab is due southwest or in the lower-right corner of the yard in Grounded. Getting there isn’t straightforward though as there are in-game requirements.

You need to have visited the Oak Lab, afterward, BURG.L will mark the Hedge Lab location on your map. You’re better off not following this mark, however, as it can be misleading. Instead, you’ll want to venture into the Hedge using the directions in the image above.

That should get you to the bottom of the branch canopy in the hedge area. There’s also a Field Station if you climb up.

How to Navigate the Hedge

It’s very easy to get lost here. So here’s a visual guide instead to help you. We’re starting from the bottom of the branch maze. While you’re on the branch canopy segment, I recommend performing a manual save after getting to the spots shown in each image.

This way, if you fall down, you can just reload. Without further ado, let’s start.

Climb up. Get to the Field Station.

Once you’re in front of the Field Station, take the right path. Hint: just follow the lights.

Take the small branch after turning to the left of the light.

Once you’re at the small branch, look right and go to the mushrooms and toward the light again.

Once you’re at the light, look right; go past the juice box and hitch on the zipline.

After the zipline, follow the directions in the image above. You need to be going down by turning right, not going straight up.

You’ll eventually see an outpost. Loot it then go ahead and follow the mushrooms (don’t go up). You’ll see another zipline once you’re on the mushrooms. Ride that zipline.

After the zipline, take the left path, to the smaller branch, and jump down to the red frisbee.

While on the red frisbee, follow the directions from the image and you’ll see another zipline. This zipline will take you to another outpost.

Go out of the outpost and turn left.

Outside of the outpost, follow the branch to the left and go up to the mushrooms.

Once you’re up and past the mushrooms, keep following the branches as shown in the image. You’ll find another zipline here that leads to the Hedge Lab. Ride that zipline to the end.

Don’t drop or let go from the zipline or you’re going to get confused for the next stage in your Hedge Lab journey.

Hedge Lab Password Guide

Your ordeal isn’t over just yet. There’s more to be done. You need four password pieces scattered all over the Hedge Lab.

This part is even more confusing and maze-like than the branch canopy. So here’s another set of images to help you speed up the process. Make sure to follow them correctly.

Take the door to the right after activating the computer with your biometrics. Keep going, destroy the webs, and you’ll eventually see a big room with the first password piece.

Before anything, perform a manual save. After that, from the room of the first password, follow the directions on the image. Take the zipline on the right.

Note: there’s a berry blocking the zipline and it will dislodge you from the zipline. Just destroy the berry and jump back into the zipline again. After you successfully ride the zipline, you’ll find the second password piece.

From the second password room, take the door to the left.

Once you get to a junction, follow the direction in the image.

Another junction, take the left. Keep following the corridor until you get to the supply room with a zipline.

Perform a manual save before riding the zipline. Important: While you’re riding the zipline, you’ll want to drop or let go halfway through to the segment of the Hedge Lab with the porthole or manhole. Enter that manhole for the third password stuck on the branch.

After getting the third password, take the door to the right. Keep going until you see a junction.

Once you see this exact junction, follow the direction on the image and then keep going.

Jump to catch the zipline and then ride it and at the end of the zipline, there’s the fourth password.

Hopefully, you got it all on the first try, if not, then you might be at the mercy of the autosave or the manual saves you’ve performed.
