Next month, the sequel to Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron releases and starts of the summer blockbuster season. The movie is expected to be the biggest Marvel movie thus far as it not only includes the original Avengers from 2012’s “Marvel’s Avengers” but includes both Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Missing from the ensemble are the Guardians of the Galaxy though James Gunn has confirmed that the sequel to last years Guardian’s of the Galaxy will enter production in February 2016. James Gunn, the director confirmed in a recent Periscope Q & A.
James Gunn also confirmed that the sequel will be shot at Pinewood Atlanta Studios. Ant-Man & Captain America: Civil War were both shot at Pinewood Atlanta Studios.
The sequel which was first expected to release in July of 2017 was recently moved up last year to May 2017. As May tends to be the start of the blockbuster season as seen with next month’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Last year, when Guardians of the Galaxy released in August, it broke multiple records including highest opening weekend in August. It also beat out other super hero movies including the sequels, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past. The movie went on to become the third highest grossing movie with a massive $774 million worldwide.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will feature the returning cast including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel & Bradley Cooper will release on May 5th, 2017.
