Since James Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 earlier this year, one question has persisted. Will Disney still use his script? Well, according to his brother, Sean Gunn, the answer’s a resounding ‘yes’.
In an interview with Tulsa World, the 44-year-old actor said:
“I know Disney still wants to make the movie. I know that they have every intention of using the script that my brother wrote.”
For those who don’t know, Sean Gunn plays Kraglin and performs motion capture for Rocket Raccoon in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
As well as the script, Gunn addressed whether the third Guardians of the Galaxy would be going forward. He also admitted that finding a new director would be tricky.
“Obviously, I think it’s a tricky proposition for them to find another director to step in — and also the scheduling of a lot of other actors who are incredibly busy can’t be easy. But I know that they plan on making the movie. I had not been contacted at all for a while, but I was recently contacted by Marvel saying, ‘Yeah, we do plan to make this movie. We’re just not sure when yet.”
Gunn went on to say that the fans were the only thing he cared about during the whole firing debacle. He doesn’t want them to be deprived of something they really care about. However, he was touched by their support for his brother while aware others just want to see a new Guardians movie.
“I go and I do these conventions and a really striking thing to me … is fans are basically split into two camps. There is one group that is super supportive of my brother and range from sad to angry about what happened. And then the other half are people who don’t know and don’t care. They just want to see the movie.”
Not only was Gunn moved by fans’ support, but so does his brother. In the interview, he also mentioned his admiration for Dave Bautista’s outspokenness on James Gunn’s firing. He acknowledged Bautista “was really angry about everything that went down” and he loves the fact that he is “a no-nonsense guy”.
What of Kraglin for future MCU films, including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
But what of juicy tidbits for Avengers 4? Gunn is scheduled to star in the picture, after all.
Well, he confirmed that the movies were shot back-to-back and that he was happier with Avengers 4 than Infinity War. Thus, he hopes the movie turns out well.
As to whether Kraglin from Guardians of the Galaxy survived Infinity War, Gunn teased fans with this:
“I think I can say this: I don’t think Kraglin’s story is finished yet. I think the fans will, at least, get to know what happens with Kraglin, even though I can’t share that right now.”
