Gwen Stefani is opening up about her love story with her husband, Blake Shelton, and it’s not all butterflies and roses. The No Doubt lead singer recently admitted that after finding herself drawn to the country music crooner, she tried to put a stop to their relationship. Stefani confessed that despite her feelings for Shelton, her life was a mess after splitting from her first husband, Gavin Rossdale, with whom she shares three children. So, she did her best to push Blake away. Of course, it didn’t work.
According to People Magazine, Gwen Stefani wasn’t expecting to fall for Blake Shelton when she signed on to be a coach on The Voice. However, she found a match in the country star. The two bonded over their recent divorces, and couldn’t escape their feelings for one another. However, Gwen says she did her best not to jump head first into a relationship with Blake.
“We had just met, and it was chaos. Both of our lives were in complete turmoil, all over the ground. Nothing could save us at that point,” Stefani stated. “There was a point where I was like, ‘I can’t even talk to you. This is insane. I already have enough problems. This is not happening anymore. We’re not going to text or nothing.'”
Gwen Stefani Tried to Ditch Blake Shelton Early On
Stefani went on to reveal that after she decided to keep Shelton at bay, he did his best to win her back. Of course, he used music to do so. So, he began writing a song for the couple, which ultimately became the country duet, Go Ahead and Break My Heart. The pair ultimately ended up singing the tune together.
Blake lured Gwen in by asking her to help him finish the song, and their romance snowballed from there. The punk-pop princess says that the relationship ended up being her saving grace, revealing that having Shelton in her life is nothing short of a “miracle.”
She made it clear that she was “crushed” after her divorce from Rossdale, feeling that her dream of having a happy marriage and family was ruined. However, with Shelton, Stefani got another shot at love. The couple tied the knot in 2021 and have continued to work together on music ever since.
It was previously reported that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have had their ups and downs. Some of their close friends and family members even allegedly thought they were headed toward divorce. However, things have seemingly settled down for the couple. Now, the pair seem to have settled into their marriage and appear to be happier than ever.
Most recently, Gwen Stefani worked on the song Purple Irises with Blake Shelton. The husband and wife duo’s new song appears on her latest album, Bouquet. It appears to be a tribute to lasting love after heartbreak. Of course, that theme fits perfectly with their own story.
