Fans can stop worrying about Gypsy Rose Blanchard‘s child missing out on having a grandmother, as her stepmom has got that title locked down. The soon-to-be mom recently reflected on her late mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, and what could have been if she lived to meet her granddaughter.
The matriarch was stabbed to death on June 9, 2015, after subjecting Gypsy Rose to a life of fake illnesses and unnecessary medical procedures. Before her death, Dee Dee’s husband, Rod Blanchard, divorced her and married Kristy — the woman who not only became Gypsy Rose’s stepmom but the mom she desperately needed and now her unborn daughter’s grandma.
In “The Viall Files” podcast’s latest episode, the former convict revealed fans had bombarded her with “grandma” questions. “There has been questions on social media. Everybody asked the question, you know, ‘What are you gonna tell your daughter whenever grandma isn’t around?’ My response to them is that Kristy has become more of a mother to me than my own mother was,” Gypsy Rose declared.
“Kristy is going to be grandma,” she stressed. As for how life could have played out with her biological mother, Gypsy Rose confessed that she pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind. In her words:
“I mean, for me, it is heartbreaking because I do, from time to time, think about what could have been, and it makes me sad.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Is Expecting A Daughter With Her Boyfriend, Ken Urker
Gypsy Rose’s grandma confession comes two months after she and her boyfriend, Ken Urker, announced their baby’s gender on Instagram. The video captured the couple standing by a balloon display, which they popped to unveil pink confetti.
The soon-to-be parents sent a sweet message to their baby girl, with Gypsy Rose declaring: “Sweetie, I’m your mom,” while Urker chimed in, “I’m your dad.” Then they exclaimed in unison, “You are a girl!”
The adorable couple, per US Magazine, began as pen pals, with Urker sending Gypsy Rose a “letter of support” while she was incarcerated for the death of her mother. Soon, their feelings turned romantic, and he popped the big question in October 2018 during a prison visit.
In August 2019, Gypsy Rose raved about the pair’s interest in starting a family, but they surprisingly broke up that same month. She and Urker reconnected in April 2024 after her separation from Ryan Anderson, but they claimed their relationship was platonic.
Later that month, Gypsy Rose confirmed that she and Urker had rekindled their romance. Two months later, the couple surprised fans with their pregnancy announcement, and the rest is history. What will Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker do next?
