The Master Chief Collection being ported over to PC is something that still shocks me to this day. Never did I think, while playing Halo 4, that the package would come over to PC. Given that nothing after the second had, it seemed very unlikely. Despite that, I’m very glad it did get ported over. It opened up so many possibilities for Halo fans, especially with the imminent Custom Game Browser. Now, 343 Industries is showing off the second to last piece of that journey. Halo 3: ODST is now available through the Master Chief Collection on PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. Finally, players can explore the city of New Mombasa on PC, with all that PC has to offer. You can find the latest trailer for the game below.
Halo 3: ODST puts you in the shoes of Rookie, a marine sent to help deal with the battle over New Mombasa. As you’re being airdropped into the city though, the Covenant ship above the city enters slipspace to escape. The shockwave throws everyone off course, forcing the marines to try to rendevous amidst a cold and Covenant infested city. As the Rookie, you must regroup with your squad and discover why the Covenant chose to attack this city in particular. Be ready though, as this dark city makes for a difficult warzone.
With its release onto PC’s Master Chief Collection, Halo 3: ODST features a whole host of improvements. For example, the game is now playable at 4K Ultra HD with 60+ FPS. The city of New Mombasa has never looked or run as wonderfully as it does now, even for those without 4K support. Joining these are the expected transitions such as widescreen support, customizable mouse and keyboard binds, a FOV slider, and more. These are all available across the Campaign, Firefight, and Theater modes of Halo 3: ODST.
This game coming to the Master Chief Collection is huge news, as all that’s left is Halo 4 now. I’d like to hear your thoughts on the news though. Will you be dropping into the game today? What Halo game is your favorite and why? Let me know in the comments below.
