This is another way studios are putting out shows or movies in digestible ways.

Studios sometimes have exciting ways to celebrate a show or movie’s anniversary. In the latest way to do this, HBO is releasing recaps of The Sopranos on TikTok for the show’s 25th anniversary, including deleted scenes and other footage on Max. All 86 episodes are getting 25-second recaps.

Max currently has a Sopranos 25th Anniversary collection page featuring all sorts of bonus features for fans. Beyond the 15 deleted scenes, we get five hours of behind-the-scenes footage. Every episode of the series is available on the streamer.

Launched today, The Sopranos‘ TikTok recaps are going well as planned. As of writing, the account has nearly 4,000 followers and 11,000 likes.

Free episodes will also be available to give people a taste of the 25-year-old drama. Through select cable companies, episodes will be made available on-demand. Max’s YouTube channel will also host the first two episodes of the series.

On the actual day of the anniversary, January 10, various celebrations will take place in L.A. and New York. On the day, a cast reunion and a screening of the pilot at Alamo Drafthouse theaters will further the celebration of the beloved show. In the cities, there will be a Satriale’s pop-up to grab a sandwich from Ggiata in L.A. and Regina’s in NYC via Postmates. From January 11 to February 4, NY restaurant Da Nico will have a special menu that is inspired by the food seen in the series.

The Sopranos having recaps on TikTok is not the first time a studio put some or all of a beloved production on the video service. Last year, Paramount put out the entirety of Mean Girls on the platform. Doing this has some issues, like giving people free access that cuts out residual payments to those who made the series or film.
