A South Carolina woman filmed a man appearing to pour a substance into a car’s gas tank. Viewers largely urged her to take the footage to police, while others questioned whether the act would actually damage the car.
Posted to TikTok by @tymiahomarye0, the short clip shows the South Carolina creator recording a man who appears to pour a cup of what looks like sugar into a gas tank. In a later comment, she claims the vehicle belongs to her. During the video, she says, “I’m going to have his license plate this time,” leading some viewers to speculate that this wasn’t the first incident.
In her caption, the creator wrote, “I don’t know what else to do.” She also included hashtags referencing harassment and jail.
People Wanted Police Involved
Calling the police was the first thing viewers wanted her to do. “Send a video to the police immediately you have his face and you have his license plate,” one commenter wrote. Another said they would call the cops with the license plate number right away.
The fact that it happened in broad daylight was another thing viewers couldn’t get over. “Broad daylight, prints on the cup and car? He wanna go to jail I fear,” one commenter wrote. “The fact that he’d do this in broad daylight is wild,” another added. Someone else pointed out that this was the kind of thing people usually tried to do in the middle of the night.
Some viewers questioned whether the sugar would actually do anything to the car. “Just wanted to let you guys know that is a myth that won’t do [expletive] to the car,” one commenter wrote. Another commenter said there shouldn’t be an issue, explaining, “As long as the owner of the SUV doesn’t drive it and gets it towed to have the gas tank cleaned out, it should be fine.”
Others thought the woman should have stayed out of it. One commenter said people should just mind their business. Another argued that the South Carolina creator was only recording to go viral and warned that the man looked directly at her camera, potentially putting her at risk.
Regardless of what was actually happening in the video, the creator seemed relieved to have captured the incident. For her, it was about more than just posting a video on TikTok. It was about having evidence of what she says happened and making sure other people saw it, too.
