Hell Let Loose, the realistic World War II FPS from Black Matter and Team17, has released its sixth update since launch into Early Access. This update is known as Assault on Hill 400, and brings in a new map, system redesigns and more! The update improves the game a lot, and players seem quite pleased if community reactions are anything to go by. The teams at both studios went to social media to celebrate the release of the update and talk with fans of Hell Let Loose.
Assault on Hill 400 brings in a map depicting the Hill 400 location from World War II. It’s a location in the Eiffel region of Germany where Allied forces assaulted the Axis Powers in control of the hill. They would take control of the hill, and it would serve as the prelude to the Battle of the Bulge. From the screenshots released already (one above), the area seems to be depicted beautifully in HD. It’s described as the most vertical map in Hell Let Loose thus far and should make for some intense battles on a grand scale. The map is available in both US Offensive and Warfare modes. Utah Beach also got an overhaul through requests from the community. You can read more about that here.
The biggest change to Hell Let Loose in this update is the new ballistics system and hit detection improvements. This may be more on the technical side of things, but they’re changes that’ll affect the entire player base significantly. The bullets have been moved from a line based system to a projectile-based system, which should help when it comes to latency and high player counts. If you’d like more details on how it works and how it pertains to you, you can find that here.
Besides that, there are tons of smaller changes being added to Hell Let Loose. Specifically, the Commander’s role is getting some new toys to play with. If you want to read all the smaller changes and additions, you can find that on the game’s Steam page. We hope you get the chance to hop into the update and try out all the new things.
