Hearing about update delays in some games is never a good sign, but in the case of Helldivers 2, it’s the complete opposite. If you’ve been out of the loop on the recent situation surrounding the famous co-op shooter, what happened is that the Into the Unjust major update brought many unexpected technical issues that have hindered many players’ experience to the point that the game reached Mixed reviews on Steam. Fortunately, the Game Director, Mikael Eriksson, addressed many of these issues today and confirmed that the studio will delay some of the planned content updates to focus on the problems affecting those who want to spread managed democracy.
Helldivers 2 Will Push Some Of Its Content Updates to the Future So It Can Address Some Technical Issues
In case you missed it, the official Helldivers 2 channel has uploaded a video titled “A Democratic Conversation with Mikael Eriksson,” in which the Game Director discusses current technical issues, future updates, and more.
The biggest highlight of the video is where Eriksson says that they “made the decision to push some of the content and updates a little bit into the future,” while they address some of the issues happening in the game right now.
If you don’t know what issues Eriksson is referring to, the truth is that the list would be too lengthy to include here, but some of the most notable ones include crashes that tend to restart a PC, stutter in Automaton missions, unbalanced enemies, and more.
Usually, people would be disappointed at learning that their favorite game won’t put out content updates fast, but in the case of Helldivers 2, the community has been asking the studio to postpone the next Warbond or major update and instead focus on fixing some of the technical problems that are affecting everyone’s experience in the game.
Eriksson also mentioned that this is all part of a process to get the game to a much better state, while also making the game feel even more stable with each future update that launches for Helldivers 2.
Another takeaway from the video is that Eriksson notes that many of these issues have quick solutions, especially some of the current bugs that many players are complaining about. Yet, some problems are trickier, such as improving FPS across all platforms, but he claims people are working on that right now, and he’s confident that they will achieve it.
In any case, this is excellent news for all Helldivers 2 players, and makes us hopeful about the game’s future. If this type of communication from the developers continues and the game becomes stable, we could see that Mixed rating return to Very Positive, which is the rating it deserves.
