In the video, Hillary Clinton appears in a split-screen interview and says a Democrat president must “get rid of all of the holdovers.” She continues, “Do not let anybody hang around in some small office somewhere who can literally subvert your program and you don’t even know that person’s there.” She adds that “people are going to have to be really searching to make sure that they are not going to be literally subverted from within the government.”

Clinton also predicts that Trump and his allies will try to move people from political appointments into civil service roles. The remarks occur in the context of advice for a future Democratic administration. The video does not show the full podcast conversation or any responses from the host beyond the interview setting.

Online Reactions to Hillary Clinton’s Remarks

Several commenters described the statements as projection, with one writing “Hillary wins projection” and another saying “Pure Insane Projection at the highest level.”

Others compared the advice to past actions, noting “Obama already did that. It’s what Trump has battled nonstop in both of his terms” and “You mean, like they’re doing to Trump? You wrote the playbook!”

Some focused on perceived double standards, with one observing that “Democrats had previously criticized firings of government employees while Hillary Clinton now called for removing holdovers.”
