Holocure is a survival bullet hell title from KayAnimate. Just by looking at it, you will immediately find similarities to Vampire Survivors. And this is not surprising since the developers were inspired by the game during the creation of Holocure. In it, you’ll have to play as one of the many vtuber talents of Hololive and fight off hordes of enemies. However, there are also many differences between Vampire Survivors and this game, so some players who started the game after its recent release on Steam may be a little confused. So, keep reading our Holocure beginner’s guide to learn the game’s main features and some useful tips and tricks.
Holocure Gameplay Explained
Of course, you need to start the Holocure beginner’s guide with the basics – namely the rules of the game. At first sight, they are very similar to those of Vampire Survivors. You choose one of the available characters and then choose one of two modes:
- Stage Mode – This is your main mode in which you have to destroy certain bosses to win. Usually, it takes 20+ minutes.
- Endless Mode – This mode has no end, so this is a great place to test the survivability of your builds.
Each Holocure character has a unique starting weapon, so whichever you choose will provide a different gaming experience than another will. During the run, you will be able to find even more different weapons and items, some of which have certain synergies. However, you can only have 6 Weapons at a time, including the starter, and 6 items. But trust us – this is more than enough. In addition, you will be able to free slots after crafting Collab Weapons. Using them, you need to kill enemies and pick up EXP to level up and get new abilities or upgrade existing ones to survive until the end of the stage.
Anvils and Boxes
The next stop in our Holocure beginner’s guide is items. Some enemies and Bosses in Holocure drop items other than EXP. And these play a crucial role in your progression:
- Holocure Boxes – Dropped by bosses upon death. By opening the Box, you can get a weapon or an item to choose from. In addition, you will earn some HoloCoins. If you’re lucky enough, the Box might contain three times as many rewards.
- Anvils – You can use these to upgrade yourself or upgrade a weapon or item. In addition, if two certain weapons have reached the max level, you can combine them using the Golden Anvil and get Collab weapons.
Character Gacha
New players can only choose one of 5 starting characters. To unlock new ones, you have to go to the Character Gacha section in the Shop. In it, you will find several banners with different characters. To roll them, you have to spend 1000 HoloCoins each time.
Fortunately, you can’t get anything but characters in these banners. Therefore, you can quickly collect the entire collection of Holocure characters. In addition, if you get a duplicate, you will upgrade the stats of this character and earn Tears, which can be spent on cosmetic items for this banner. Each character offers a unique gaming experience, so we encourage you to try them all.
Holocure Upgrades
The second tab in the Shop is Upgrades. In it, you can purchase new skills or level-up stats, such as ATK, Defense, Food Drops, etc. You will spend HoloCoins on this, so you will need quite a lot of them.
However, this is not the only way you can increase your stats before the run. In the latest update, the developers have added a new game mode called Holo House. In it, you can play mini-games, decorate your house, grow crops, fish, and farm HoloCoins. In addition, from the produced products, players can cook dishes that increase various stats in one run. But this mode is not available from the very beginning of the game.
Holocure Beginner’s Tips & Tricks
- First of all, you need to clear the first stage to earn HoloCoins and unlock Holo House.
- We recommend that you use Amela Watson as her pistols will allow you to keep all enemies far enough away.
- The best tactic in Holocure is walking in a big circle. This way, you can lead a horde of monsters and then pick up EXP, Crates, and Anvils without any problems.
- After unlocking Holo House, you must start fishing and hire a few workers to earn HoloCoins for you.
- With the HoloCoins you receive, you can increase stats, but one of the first you should purchase is the Special Attack. Each character has a unique Special Attack, which is very powerful.
