How to Fish in HoloCure – Complete Fishing Guide

Catching chibis

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Don’t let HoloCure‘s anime characters and chibi aesthetic fool you: it’s as brutal as Vampire Survivors when it wants to be. Between taking down waves of enemies and using weapons and items to enhance your stats, there’s plenty to do. You can even take a break from the action by fishing. Dropping a line in the local fishing hole is a great way to snag some finned friends you can then convert into powerful stat buffs. Triumph is just a dish away. Here’s how to unlock fishing in HoloCure.

How to Unlock Fishing in Holocure

Like other mini-games in HoloCure, Fishing is only available in Holo House. It is a mode in which you can take a break from battles and engage in various activities such as farming, home decorating, cooking, and fishing. However, it is worth noting that you can’t enter Holo House from the very beginning of the game, as it is only unlocked after you clear the first stage.

After that, you will be able to enter Holo House from the main menu. This life sim has a small map that has a pond. Despite the size, it has a large number of different fish that you have to catch. Fortunately, you will receive a fishing pole once you unlock this mode.

To fish in Holo House, you need to go to the pond on the left side of the map. Interact with it to start fishing. You don’t have to hook fish or anything like that. Instead, you must play a mini-game. Just press the buttons (w, a,s,d, spacebar) when the corresponding arrows pass through the circle.

If you press the wrong buttons or at the wrong time, the fish will swim away, and you will not catch anything. And vice versa, successfully pressing all the buttons, you will get more fish. Also, you will gain combos by catching fish successfully. The higher the combo, the harder the mini-game will be, and the more fish you can catch at once. However, the combo counter resets when you fail a mini-game, change your pole, or exit the menu. Speaking of fishing rods, there are 6 in total in HoloCure:

  • Beginner’s Fishing Pole
  • Dad’s Fishing Pole
  • Blacksmith’s Fishing Pole
  • Atlantis Fishing Pole
  • Turkey Fishing Pole
  • Golden Fishing Pole

Each of them allows you to catch more rare species of fish. But at the beginning, only Beginner’s Fishing Field is available to you. The rest can be purchased from Bloop for Sand.

After catching a lot of different fish, you will want to use it for your runs. The first and most obvious is cooking dishes with buffs. But many dishes will require additional ingredients besides fish, so you need to remember about farming. However, we do not recommend you use fish for cooking when you started fishing in HoloCure.

As we said above, you will need Sand to buy the best fishing pole. You can earn it by selling fish you catch to Bloop. The rarer the fish, the more Sand you will earn. Moreover, Sand can be exchanged for Coins at the Bloop shop.

You can also occasionally catch Shiny variants of fish that are much more expensive. But to catch new types of fish, you will need more expensive fishing poles. Therefore, you must sell almost all of your catch until you can fish everything in the pond in HoloCure:

  • Tuna
  • Shrimp
  • Clownfish
  • Eel
  • Lobster
  • Koi
  • Manta Ray
  • Pufferfish
  • Squid
  • Turtle
  • Shark
  • Axolotl
