It may not look like it at first, but Beast of Reincarnation has several RPG mechanics on top of the somewhat souls-lite combat. One of the most daunting, however, is the huge skill tree and the attribute system, which could confuse a few players, especially if diving into this genre for the first time. For that reason, we’ve made a quick guide to show you how skills and attributes work in Beast of Reincarnation, as well as what to get first.
Skills and Attributes in Beast of Reincarnation
To understand the whole progression system of Beast of Reincarnation, you must understand there are two primary ways to level up Emma and Koo: skills and attributes.
Attributes, like in any other game, will dictate how your stats will grow, and you’ll be able to allocate them into three different categories for Emma and Koo. You have Strength, Vitality, and Florescence. Each of these categories will increase specific stats, such as Strength increasing your attack, Vitality increasing your HP, and so on.
You obtain Attribute points just by leveling up, and to do so, all you need to do is defeat enemies. Each time you level up, you’ll be able to use one Attribute point for both Emma and Koo. Attribute points are exclusive to each character.
However, Skills are a bit different. Defeating enemies will reward you with Skill Points, which you can then use on the Skill Tree. Skill Points are shared between both characters, meaning that you need to evaluate who deserves to use some of your points first. However, it is much easier to obtain Skill Points, so you won’t have a shortage of them.
The tricky part comes when you want to unlock skills. Some of the active and passive skills in the game require you to have a specific level in some Attributes. For example, if you want to Iado for Emma, you need to have your Strength above 7 and then increase your Entanglement Overdrive to level 2. It might be a bit confusing at first, but once you get the basics, it will be pretty easy to start building both characters.
Best Skills to Unlock First

As for what skills you should unlock first in Beast of Reincarnation, we’ll go over the ones we picked that gave us a good balance between offense and defense.
For Emma, follow this order:
- Entanglement Overdrive Lv. 1
- Recovery Effect Boost up to Lv. 2
- Expand Entanglement Gauge up to Lv. 2
- Iado Lv. 1
- (Switch to the Hair branch) Hair to Lv. 2
- Sprout Shakuyaku Lv. 1
- Helm Splitter Lv. 1
- Cloaking Grass
The above early build will let you recover more HP with consumables, increase your Entanglement Gauge, and even sneak more easily, which is quite useful in some areas.
For Koo, however, we recommend the following:
- Level up Vitality to level 9 and unlock two levels of Guard.
- Mod: Resonance
- Mod: Battleborn
- Mod: Healing Energy
- Pounce to Level 2
- Lay Landmine
- Taunt
- You’ll need to level up Koo’s Strength for the last three skills we listed.
This build will let Koo become a buffer and a healer for Emma early in the game, while also providing some DPS options and even letting him taunt enemies to make fights easier for Emma.
Keep in mind that this is an early build for both, so don’t use it as something definitive. Still, these skills are pretty useful, especially when trying to figure out how every other system in the game works.
