The Tone-Deaf Bard, or Archon of Drink, is the first god we meet in our adventure through Teyvat. Even though the god Anemo seems carefree and lazy, at this point in the game, we know that Venti, Barbatos, hides many of the secrets of Genshin Impact. However, Barbatos, besides hiding his true identity, seems to think that something or someone does not allow him to share the truth about this world. For this reason, he pretends to be just another bard, although he is always aware of his domain and the lives of the citizens of Mondstadt without interfering directly with their freedom.

Genshin Impact: What Is the Real Age of Venti?

Barbatos is still a very young god; he is only about 2600 years old. We know this thanks to the cinematic in Venti’s Story Quest, in which the Anemo God tells us that he was just a spirit elemental when he acquired consciousness. Barbatos befriended the nameless Bard, who lived in Old Mondstadt, a kingdom dominated by the winds of Decarabian, the former God of Wind. Venti, the nameless Bard, Amos, and King Ragnvindr led the rebellion to overthrow Decarabian. When the tyrant god fell, Barbatos took over as the Anemo Archon and allied with the four winds to protect the new Mondstadt. Sadly, the nameless bard died in the rebellion, and in honor of his memory, Barbatos took on the appearance of his friend.

Venti left freedom in the hands of his people so as not to interfere with the wishes of those in his nation. But Venti had to return to the story of 1000 years ago because the Lawrence Clan reinstated tyranny against the citizens. So, the Archon freed Vennessa, who ensured the freedom of her people. Again, Venti had to reappear in the history of Genshin Impact 500 years earlier for the atrocious events of the Cataclysm. Venti was one of the Archons who survived the war and one of those who remained to found The Seven in Teyvat.

Barbatos is one of the most powerful and mysterious characters in Genshin Impact. Not only has he survived through all this time and many wars, but with his powers, he terraformed Mondstadt. Barbatos blew the winter out of the earth, cut down all the mountains of his nation, and with the top of them, created the Golden Apple Archipelago and the island of Musk Reef. He also shared his wisdom so that his people would use the wind to their advantage and learn how to brew wine, which they used to create celebrations to make everyone happy.
