Xenochromatic Hunter has an ability that you can absorb, which enables you to shoot a certain type of ray that can cut grasses. This ability is essential to progress through the Aqueous Tidemarks quest. Thankfully, absorbing and using Xenochromatic Hunter Ray’s ability isn’t that hard in Genshin Impact.
The main reason you need this ability is to cut grasses that are blocking your path when you are doing the Aqueous Tidemarks quest. You can use the Transoceanic Sourcewater to absorb this ability, but first, you must find a Xenochromatic Hunter.
This creature can only be found underwater in the Fontaine area. With some luck, you will stumble upon one when you reach the location that is blocked by grasses. Finding these underwater creatures is easy as well. All you have to do is look for a blue fish with a little orb above its head.

Once you found it, go near and interact with it to absorb its power. Then the ray-shaped icon will appear near your character, indicating that you’ve absorbed the ability. Then go to the blocked passage, aim, and shoot to release the Hunter’s Ray to cut the grasses. You can also use this ability to deal damage to other characters which is quite useful.
