The Underdark is probably the most interesting location in the game, given the number of secrets and enemies that are found here. Monsters and enemies will be waiting for you at every turn and will attack without a word, including Filro and his Hook Horrors. Next, you’ll learn how to beat Filro the Forgotten in Baldur’s Gate 3. Fighting this boss is not necessary, but you can still come across him while exploring the region. There are several strategies that you can use to defeat him, and we’ll tell you about them below.
Filro the Forgotten Location in Baldur’s Gate 3
Filro the Forgotten in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the 3 Drow who knows about Adamantine Forge. This character is naturally hostile, and you won’t be able to communicate with him, as he will immediately attack you. You can find him near the Sussur tree Ancient Sigil Circle. This is the southwestern part of Underdark and you can use the fast travel point to get there. In addition, at this location, you can find Meatball, a scary monster that roams around and attacks adventurers. It’s also worth noting that Filro is protected by two Hook Horrors that will come to his aid if you attack him.
How To Beat Filro the Forgotten
Eventually, when you get to the desired location, you will be able to fight Filro, but it’s not that simple. As we mentioned above, the boss is defended by two creatures with 97HP each, and this will make the fight much more difficult if you decide to attack him. There are 2 options that will be the most optimal, namely:
- Kill Hook Horrors and then move on to Filro.
- Kill Filro unnoticed and then deal with Hook Horrors.
Both of these options have certain nuances that will hinder you, but with correct preparation, the battle will not take much time. Below, we’ll tell you more about each of the options, as well as the pros and cons of each option.
Kill Hook Horrors First
To be honest, this is a more difficult option because when you start fighting creatures, you automatically trigger Filro, which has many powerful magic attacks. In this case, you will need to fight 3 enemies at once, avoiding Filro’s ranged attacks.
Well, if you do decide to choose this strategy, we recommend that you start the fight at a long distance as soon as you see the bird-like creatures. One of them will be on the ground, while the other one will be on the branches of the Sussur tree. Use your most powerful ranged attacks to deal as much damage as possible before they get close to you.
You can also take advantage of the Meatball, which digs through the ground. You’ll need to figure out where ground zero will be to lure the Hook Horrors there. This way, Meatball will attack them, and you can concentrate on the fight with the main boss.
As for Filro, we also recommend using ranged attacks because he is a Level 4 wizard and knows many spells that will destroy you in close combat, as well as if you move in a group. With the right strategy and precise attacks, you won’t spend much time fighting, as the enemy has only 25HP. Despite this, his Armor Class is 20, so you should use the most powerful attacks.
Kill Filro First
The second option will be more interesting and subordinate to the stealth mode. To avoid complicating the fight, and just avoid Filro’s magic attacks, you can sneakily kill him in the back and then deal with Hook Horrors. To achieve this, you’ll need to choose a character with the highest Stealth level, such as Astarion. So, ungroup your chosen character so that he moves alone and uses stealth mode to bypass the Hook Horrors and sneak up on Filro. When you do, use Sneak Attack to hit him and if you’re lucky, he’ll die in one hit. Otherwise, use a normal attack to finish him off and then deal with the Hook Horrors. You can get the following items as a reward for defeating this boss:
- Simple robes
- Quarter staff
- Scroll of Sleep
- Icy Crystal
- Scribbled Notes
Now you know how to beat Filro the Forgotten in Baldur’s Gate 3, and we hope you won’t face any issues defeating this enemy!
