In Chapter 2, you will enter the Yellow Wind Formation, where you must defeat various powerful Yaoguai. After beating the Rat King and Prince, you will make your way into the Crouching Tiger Temple, where you can face Tiger Vanguard in Black Myth: Wukong. Although this Yaoguai is merely a beast, the Tiger Vanguard boss fight is still quite tough due to the monster’s speed and agility. You must prepare yourself well if you want to beat this Yaoguai quickly.
Black Myth: Wukong Tiger Vanguard Boss Fight Guide
The Tiger Vanguard will use its fists and massive sword to attack you in Black Myth: Wukong. Although that may sound simple, its massive figure gives it a wide attack range that may make it hard for you to dodge.
Besides that, this monster can also send sword slashes made out of blood. It will also dash around the arena if you get too far, but you can evade it by going sideways.

Black Myth: Wukong Starter GuideThe main gimmick in the Tiger Vanguard boss fight is its ability to turn into a stone statue. This ability will show up once you reduce the Yaoguai’s health bar to half. At this point, do not attack the statue.
You won’t be able to damage Tiger Vanguard in this state, and you will only just make yourself vulnerable. Keep your eyes open and make sure that the boss won’t ambush you. Although it can turn to stones, the monster can also create a decoy that opens it up to attack you.
Besides using the useful Immobilize spell, the Cloud Step skill is also very useful when facing Tiger Vanguard in Black Myth: Wukong. If you get cornered, you can use this spell to give yourself some breathing room.
Although you can unlock the Azure Dust transformation in Chapter 2, I still suggest bringing the Red Tides to this boss fight. You want to be quick on your feet if you want to dodge Tiger Vanguard’s attacks. The Burn status effect that comes from the Red Tides transformation lets you land damage over time.
Defeating Tiger Vanguard in Black Myth: Wukong will give you these rewards:
- Rock Solid spell
- Keenness of Tiger
- Mind Core
- Silk x3
After beating this Yaoguai King, the headless monk will give you the Rock Solid spell. This ability lets you turn into stone, which blocks the next attack. If you want to change your spell, you need to visit a Keeper’s Shrine. Then, select Self-Advance, and pick Select Spell. Note that you can only either use Cloud Steps or Rock Solid spells.
