Breaking enemies or “Weakness Break” is a mechanic in Honkai: Star Rail Trailblazers must master to succeed in combat. This mechanic is quite different from what Genshin Travelers might be familiar with regarding Elemental Reactions. Weakness Break involves using specific types of attacks to reduce an enemy’s Toughness bar. Toughness is indicated by the white bar above the red HP bar. If your Star Rail character triggers Weakness Break on your opponent, they will take additional damage from attacks. Additionally, the inflicted Break delays the enemy, granting you more opportunities to strike.

To Break enemies or perform Weakness Break, you must examine your enemy’s Elemental Weakness in Honkai: Star Rail. This mechanic is displayed above the Toughness bar of the opponent. For instance, you will encounter Voidranger: Reavers during your adventure. Above their HP and Toughness, you’ll see the icons for Physical and Lightning. These two are this enemy type’s Elements in Honkai: Star Rail that can Break their Toughness.

Every enemy will have different Elemental Weaknesses in Honkai: Star Rail, which can make things challenging to perform Weakness Break. The reason is that your playable characters all possess distinct Elements. As a result, they will be effective against certain enemy types but less advantageous against others in combat. For example, if you’re facing a Voidranger: Distorter, you’ll notice its two weaknesses are Wind and Imaginary. Therefore, you can Break this enemy’s Toughness in Honkai: Star Rail by using Dan Heng, a Wind wielder.
