The Horse Guard’s Request in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a two-part side quest that not only offers plenty of rewards but also provides the opportunity for you to possess some of the game’s strangest animals. Similar to the One Hit Wonder quest, you must first travel over to a specific stable and then journey off to unique areas to receive goods for a very curious quest-giver. However, players should expect to put Link’s stealth abilities to the test in this adventure. Here is how to find and complete The Horse Guard’s Request in Tears of the Kingdom.

You can start The Horse Guard’s Request in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom at the Outskirt Stable in the Central Hyrule Region. As marked above, the stable is directly west of the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower, though you can also fast-travel to Riogok Shrine and head north. From here, Link must speak to a man named Toffa, who can be found feeding horses on the right side of the building. Toffa then explains that he wishes to see a Skeletal Horse and will even pay to do so.

Luckily, you won’t need to go very far to get a Skeletal Horse for Toffa. This undead version of Hyrule horses rests up the road from the stable at the Sanidin Park Ruins—just west of Usazum Shrine. However, the unique creature only spawns near the Sanidin Park Ruins at night, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. in-game time. So, if it’s still daytime, feel free to take a rest at the stable to speed time up.

Similar to regular horses, it is easiest to grab ahold of a Skeletal Horse by crouching and sneaking up on it from behind. Sipping down a Sneaky Elixir will help you approach the beast with ease. The game should then prompt you to press the A button to leap onto it, but you will also want to calm it by tapping the L bumper. Once the horse is brought to Toffa, he will gift Link a Purple Rupee (50 Rupees) and a Pony Point.

To complete The Horse Guard’s Request thoroughly, you must meet Toffa’s last demand of taming and bringing back a deer. But, this feat is much easier than one might think. There is a collection of deer that spawn on the mountain just behind the stable. Although sneaking up on a deer is one way of catching it, it is best to first climb the peak of the mountain.

You should then glide over to the road on the right, as Link can then land and ride on one of the deer nearby. There are even plenty of Mountain Bucks next to this road, which can also be brought to Toffa to complete the quest.

Once you’re back at Outskirt Stable, the quest will conclude when you talk to Toffa to receive a Silver Rupee (100 Rupees) and one Pony Point. Keep in mind; you can then redeem Pony Points at the stable for horse accessories, such as the Towing Harness and Traveler’s Saddle.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
