The Trail of the Master Sword is a story quest, so you will start it as soon as you complete the Find the Fifth Sage and Guidance from Ages Past quests. After that, you need to get to the Great Deku Tree and learn about the Master Sword from it. However, this Tree is at the center of the Great Hyrule Forest. And if you try to get there on foot or by jumping from the Sky Islands, you will get lost. Therefore, you will need to go through the most difficult path:

  1. Find the Minshi Woods Chasm in the southeast of the Forest.
  2. Jump into it.
  3. Then you need to move to the northwest and get to the building, which is located almost under the Great Deku Tree. (0435, 2093, -0588)
  4. Use your Ascend ability there to get to the surface.
  5. After that, interact with the Musanokir Shrine to unlock the fast travel point.

Even though you finally get to the Tree, you cannot interact with it because it is infected. Therefore, you will need to go down to Deku Tree Chasm to complete the Trail of the Master Sword quest. This Chasm is right under the Great Deku Tree. And there will be a strong boss waiting for you at the bottom, so get ready before jumping into Chasm. You can also follow our tips to defeat Phantom Ganon:

  1. First of all, do not touch Gloom puddles on the floor.
  2. Use your bow and various items, such as Bomb Flowers, to defeat Gloom Hands.
  3. After that, Phantom Ganon will appear and start attacking you.
  4. Shoot him from a distance and aim for the head. It is the best way to avoid damage.
  5. Once you defeat the boss, the Gloom will disappear, and several Koroks will descend on you.
  6. After talking with them, you will need to return to the surface. You can use the Ascend ability again or just fast-travel to the Musanokir Shrine.
  7. Finally, talk to the Great Deku Tree to complete the Trail of the Master Sword.

That’s all you need to know about how to complete the Trail of the Master Sword quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. It is a rather complicated quest, so follow our tips to find the Tree and defeat the boss. In the meantime, take a look at our guide on how to find Otutsum Shrine.
