One of the most amazing features in Towers of Aghasba is the ability to create new ecosystems. Since you’re arriving at a ravaged land, the only way to make it bloom again is, well, to literally make it bloom. You need to find certain seeds to create new biomes in the game’s map. However, it is easier said than done, and while this is one of the game’s most prominent mechanics, it takes a while to understand it or even know how to do it. Here, we’ve prepared a quick guide to help you reshape the land with new ecosystems in Towers of Aghasba.
How To Make New Ecosystems in Towers of Aghasba
So far, and during the game’s early access period, we’ve only seen the option to create new biomes or ecosystems by playing the main story of Towers of Aghasba. As soon as you establish the first farming village at Amani Island, you’ll get a quest from Pawel to plant a Colossal Seed. Doing so will create a new ecosystem, but there are a few things to take into consideration.
- It needs to be far from your village/town.
- You can head to your inventory, select the Colossal Seed, and then click on “Use.” You’ll get a red outline of where the seed will be planted that will show you how far it needs to be before using it.
- Not every Colossal Seed will create the same ecosystem.
- Depending on the seed, you might get different biomes, such as Temperate and Tropical. You can inspect the seed before planting it to see what it will give. Also, you need to remember that an ecosystem can only grow in specific places. For instance, temperate ecosystems only seem to grow on Amani Island.
These two elements are key when creating a new biome. Fortunately, the game makes it quite evident to see what you’re getting and where you can create these new lands.
Tips to Create the Perfect Ecosystem
After playing with some Colossal Seeds for a while, we realized there are a few ways to improve your ecosystem and even make the upgrading process much easier. Here are a few tips to help you get started:
- Always look for a place that has creatures near it.
- One of the requirements for upgrading an ecosystem is feeding animals inside it. During our first try, we planted the Temperate Colossal Seed in the corner of Amani Island, and there were almost no creatures. If you are trying to upgrade your biome, make sure there are a few critters around. Also, remember to observe them to see what treats they prefer.
- Build far from your village/town but not in a terrain that’s difficult to reach.
- One of our first mistakes was creating an ecosystem on a cliff overlooking the sea just for the good looks, but it was a bad idea. We soon realized the ground was uneven, thus making planting new seeds a bit more difficult, and just reaching certain materials was a pain. Always try to find a flat surface to create a biome.
- Do not be afraid of cutting down your newly planted trees.
- The game tells you this, but in case you didn’t see the message, new seeds grow on the central biome’s tree. You can climb it and grab a few to plant new trees that will likely have habitat-exclusive materials, such as resin trees dropping resin in the temperate biome.
Also, be sure to always return to a biome because you’ll need to do a lot of planting to upgrade it. Plus, it is nice to always have a few trees growing while you go off to explore. You can create a nice loop of growing plants, exploring the islands, returning to the new habitat to gather materials, building new items, and then going off on a new adventure. It gets quite addictive after a while.
