The Grandfather’s unique property of doubling your Critical Strike Damage is awesome in Diablo 4 Season 7. It’s pretty easy to slip the 2-hander into your build, especially as a Barbarian, given that you have two extra items slots and can afford to sacrifice two Temper slots. Necromancers can use it, too! Despite being a Mythic item, The Grandfather is among the easier Mythics to get in Diablo 4 Season 7.
How to Get The Grandfather in Diablo 4 the Easy Way
By “easy,” I mean this method will guarantee you The Grandfather, but you’ll still have some farming to do. In Diablo 4, you can craft Mythic Uniques, and it just so happens The Grandfather is one of them. You’ll need the following materials:
- x6 Mot Runes
- x6 Xol Runes
- x6 Yax Runes
- x2 Resplendent Sparks
Mot, Xol, and Yax being Legendary Runes will be a bit of a drag, but you can get those from simply playing or by crafting. I recommend farming the Kurast Undercity otherwise.
Resplendent Sparks, on the other hand, can’t be crafted. You can get one from reaching the final tier of the season reputation board. In Season 7, that’s Coven’s Favor, which you get from Witchtides.
For your second Resplendent Spark, you can get another one guaranteed from killing Lilith on Torment I the first time. Otherwise, you’d have to resort to dismantling other Mythic Uniques. Once you have your crafting materials, speak to the Jeweler to craft The Grandfather in Diablo 4 and it’s yours!
How to Farm The Grandfather in Diablo 4 Season 7
To increase the odds of getting The Grandfather in Diablo 4, I also recommend farming for it. Once you’re strong enough to face off against Uber bosses, you might as well add that into your rotation.
Why? Two reasons: Uber bosses can drop Runes and you may get lucky and get The Grandfather before you craft it. Additionally, all Uber bosses—except Lilith—have the chance to drop it:
- Varshan
- Lord Zir
- Grigoire
- Echo of Duriel
- The Beast in the Ice
- Echo of Andariel
Out of the six, Varshan, Lord Zir, Grigoire, and The Beast in the Ice are going to be the easiest to summon since they only require one item. Varshan requires a Malignant Heart; Lord Zir requires 12 Exquisite Blood; 12 Living Steel to summon Grigoire; and The Beast in the Ice needs 12 Distilled Fear.
To make this easier on yourself, stick to doing Whisper events in Helltides. You’ll come in contact with all of the Uber materials, minus Distilled Fear. You can get those from Nightmare Dungeons.
