After you have defeated the Betrayal of Felassan boss, you can challenge the next creature that dwells within the Crossroad. This monster manifested from Solas’ regrets and dark past, and you must vanquish it to close the tear in the Fade. Unfortunately, the path to the boss chamber will be locked until you defeat one of the eleven gods’ champions. This Darkspawn can be found in the Hossberg Wetlands. Once you defeat it, you can challenge the Fall of the Protector boss in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
How To Find Fall of the Protector Boss in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
To unlock the path to the Fall of the Protector boss arena in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you must defeat Amarell the Unwoven in the Hossberg Wetlands. You can unlock this area once you have recruited both Taash and Emmrich. There will be several side quests that you can accept, but your goal is to go to Solitude’s Edge.
Note that you may also encounter a shard of the demon locked within the Necropolis in this area, so be prepared for two boss fights in a row. Luckily, Amarell the Unwoven won’t show up until you break the massive Blight Cyst. You can easily reach Solutide’s Age by tracking the Gate of Pale Reflections quest.
Besides dealing with a dangerous boss, you must be careful of the terrain. Since Rook cannot swim, you must avoid entering deep waters. Unfortunately, this zone is quite dark, and you may have difficulty seeing it.
Amarell the Unwoven is a Level 35 boss and will mainly attack you at close range with its massive weapon. If you are farther away, it will throw some Blight projectiles at you and even leap toward your location. The majority of its attacks are unblockable, so it’s safer to dodge them.
Once you have broken its shield, the boss will unleash a wave of darkness that will blind your party. While you can continue to attack the boss, your allies won’t be able to use their skills. Your vision is also highly limited, so be careful where you step.
How To Beat
Once you have defeated the champion, you can return to the Crossroad to face the Fall of the Protector boss. This monster is a Level 42 enemy, so you should at least reach Level 35 before you attempt to challenge it. At the start of battle, you need to defeat a horde of undead monsters before the boss will actually step foot in the arena. The mobs are easy to beat, but their number can overwhelm you.
The Fall of the Protector will mainly attack you with ice projectiles. It will shoot two single ice shards before launching six at once during the third attack. The monster will also summon AoE falling projectiles that you must dodge by moving out of the red circles. It can teleport to anywhere in the arena, so you may need to run after it many times.
Once you reduce its HP bar to half, The Fall of the Protector will try to regain HP from the tear in the Fade. You must destroy its barrier quickly, or it will recover health and unleash a wave of attack. The monster will also start summoning mobs that will attack you as a group. I prefer to ignore them in favor of focusing my attention on the boss.
If you’re not playing as Warrior, you can bring Davrin, who can use a Taunt skill to draw attention to himself. This will allow you to avoid being targeted for a short period. He also has an ability that can help you break barriers.
Defeating The Fall of the Protector boss will give you these rewards:
- EXP x350
- Etheric Remnant x5
- Mournwatch’s Strength x100
- Frozen Facade Unique Light Helm x1
