Rumors about the Mysterious Beast in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom can be heard as you travel about Hyrule. Legend has it that this elusive beast has massive footprints and formidable horns and is related to Princess Zelda’s disappearance for some reason. One way to find out the truth is to track it down and see it with your own eyes. This guide will help you sniff out and find the Mysterious Beast Dondon in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

“A new species of four-legged beast found in southern regions. So far only five of these creatures have ever been spotted in Hyrule. Their diet is a mystery. But what is known is that they are easily scared, and their giant horns can be very dangerous.”

The Mysterious Beasts in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom are actually docile animals called the Dondons. They can be found near the Lakeside Stable in Faron at 1542, -3356, 0058 coordinates. While these beasts cannot be harmed, the Dondon can be fed Luminous Stones to “produce” precious Gems like Sapphire and Amber. The Dondons are related to “The Beast And The Princess” Side Adventure, where Link is investigating Zelda’s disappearance.

Try farming some Luminous Stones and place them in front of a Dondon. If it eats the Stone, go away from the area for a while and pass the time until the next day. Once you have gone back, you should find Gems that can be sold off for some Rupees. Each beast can eat up to five Luminous Stones for each time they “drop” the Gems.

“The Beast And The Princess” is a part of the “Potential Princess Sightings” Side Adventure. Trigger the “Potential Princess Sightings” by talking with Penn at the Lookout Landing. In order to gather information about Princess Zelda’s location, Penn will task Link with visiting 12 Stables across the land.

With the “Potential Princess Sightings” Quest now active, go to the Lucky Clover Gazette just outside Rito Village and speak with him and Traysi. The Gazette’s editor-in-chief will tell a rumor about Zelda riding a Mysterious Beast in a subtropical region in the south. This should finally trigger the “The Beast And The Princess” Side Adventure.

Follow Penn’s hint; head southward to Faron, to the Lakeside Stable to be precise. The Stable is at 1542, -3356, 0058 coordinates. The fastest way to get there is by teleporting to the Rabella Wetlands or Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower.

Once you reach the Stable, talk with the Stablemaster and he will say something about an animal sanctuary nearby. Head north from the Lakeside Stable across the river to the Bronus Forest. You should eventually stumble upon the Dondon and Cima. Speak with Cima to complete “The Beast And The Princess” Side Adventure and end the Mysterious Beast investigation in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Penn will swoop down to Link’s location and reward you with the Froggy Leggings and 100 Rupees for all the trouble.
