Do you want to know how to fix the black screen on startup for Overwatch 2? It can be frustrating when you’re trying to get back into your game, and the screen won’t load. Overwatch 2 also had a lot of errors before, such as Failing to Connect to Game Server. However, a black screen on startup is not a new error since players have been experiencing it for months. But, with the latest update, there is an increase in players who encounter this error. However, you can do a few things to fix this error. So, let’s look at how to fix the black screen on startup for Overwatch 2.

You can fix the black screen on startup for Overwatch 2 by deleting some files in the sysWOW folder and system32 folder, switching off the antivirus, and resetting the game. These are some of the most effective solutions from players in relevant Reddit threads.

1. Delete Files

Go to your C:/windows/sysWOW64 and system 32 folders. Then delete the three files below from there. If you can’t find those files in these folders, they should be in a different folder.

  • C:\Windows\System32\RzChromaSDK64.dll
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\RzChromaSDK.dll
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\RzAPIChromaSDK.dll

This is one of the most successful methods to fix the black screen on startup for Overwatch 2.

2. Switch Off The Antivirus

If you have any antivirus installed, try temporarily turning it off and relaunching the game. This may solve the problem, and you’ll be able to get back into your game without any issues.

3. Reset The Game

Go to the game setting by clicking the gear next to the play button and reset the game. This should fix the black screen on startup for Overwatch 2.

4. Reduce the FPS Count to 48 and Play On 1080P

Another less-known solution to the black screen issue is to reduce the frame rate count from 144 (the default) to 48 and then play on 1080P resolution.

Some players said that pressing the Esc or Alt+Tab buttons worked for them. But, unfortunately, most other players do not have that luxury.

This error occurs due to outdated graphic drivers, missing admin rights, and corrupted game files. Try to update or reinstall your graphic drivers to their latest versions before launching the game again. Also, ensure you have admin rights on the PC before running Overwatch 2.

In conclusion, troubleshooting the black screen issue in Overwatch 2 involves a diverse range of potential fixes. So, trying different methods is essential until you find the one that suits your situation. If all else fails, don’t hesitate to contact Blizzard Support. They are there to help you enjoy your gaming experience without any hurdles.
