While Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has had positive reviews, people have been frustrated as they seek out a fix for numerous performance issues across all platforms. Although our review was a glowing five-star review, the issues, especially on PC, have not gone above our heads.
How console and PC gaming differs, coming up with fixes may not apply to one when it does to another. Still, even though our focus is on PC to come up with a fix for performance issues on Jedi: Survivor, some will help if you are playing on PlayStation or Xbox. Experiment, and hopefully, you can enjoy Respawn Entertainment’s latest blockbuster swashbuckling game.
Jedi Survivor Performance Issues Fix: Usage Sharing
One of the easiest things you can do, whether you are on a console or PC, can be to turn off Usage Sharing. You may notice that more and more games have a notice about collecting data to “improve products and services.” It can benefit developers by having this switched on, except in this case. From a test from The Nerd Stash, we saw at least a 20-frame rate difference. Previously, we got around 50 fps and then got bumped up to the 70 range. Fans on social media have been reporting that this has benefitted their experience, specifically on PS5.
Check Your Drivers
One of the issues the game has faced has been crashing. The PC audience can check their drivers to ensure their machine is ready for the next AAA release. When booting up the GPU’s driver menu, it will often advertise the latest big release. With the recent release of Jedi: Survivor, you may see it displayed as you seek a fix for performance issues. It is not a guaranteed solution, but regardless of the problems you face, you should also keep up to date to ensure your rig is prepared to dive into a demanding technical experience.
You will want to check a few things in this area. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar, go to Settings, and under Updates & Security, hit Check for updates. For NVIDIA graphics card owners, you will want to go to NVIDIA’s website or GeForce Experience to update your drivers. AMD owners need to select AMD Radeon Settings and click Update.
Tweak Your Settings
The pro of PC gaming is the vast options you get to tinker with the display and graphics that will hinder or benefit your fps. You will want your resolution set to what your monitor is, but if you want to play on max settings, you may need to lower your resolution. Ensure some high-end settings are off or low; for example, turn off ray tracing. The detail in the world should be minimized to the point of a frame rate that makes you comfortable. So, turning foliage, anti-aliasing, and shadow quality down may make the game uglier than you want, but it should eliminate some problems.
Look Up Mods
Performance issues on Jedi: Survivor frustrated some players so much that they made a fix themselves. Browsing mods for any game will see various improvements, from shaders to full-0n bug fixes. While going to Nexus Mods, we found one called May the Performance be with you by modder Glumboi. Experimenting with mods that boost fps can get you through drops and stuttering until patches come from Respawn to polish the game. This mod has various boosts, depending on your build. You can see a potential five to 20 increase in your frame rate.
Have Nothing Opened Behind the Scenes
Depending on what you are doing on the side, you might have other applications open as you play games. You might be chatting with friends on Discord, listening to music on Spotify, or forgetting to close Google Chrome. Some of these applications, like Chrome, can take up a lot of weight on your CPU. When a game has problems, as seen with the Fallen Order sequel, you will want to play it safe by not having anything else opened.
If you cannot find a fix for your Jedi: Survivor performance issues, you might need to wait. Follow Respawn Entertainment closely as it updates the game and keeps players up to date on what its timeline looks like. It recently had a patch that saw a significant bump in its quality.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
