The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is not just filled with magical spells, potions, and powerful wizards, but also fantastical beasts to befriend and tame. One of them is Mooncalf, the big-eyed, long-necked creature that only comes out of its burrow during the full moon. This guide will tell you you can catch and get the Mooncalf in the open-world Hogwarts Legacy game.
How to Get a Mooncalf in Hogwarts Legacy
The Mooncalf is a rather weird and timid creature that, befitting its name, only emerges during a full moon. To be able to catch and get a Mooncalf, you need to have the Nab-sack Spell, which will be unlocked after you have completed “The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom” quest — which will ask you to catch one in the first place anyway.
To complete the “The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom” quest and/or find one for later down the road, head to the following locations where they can spawn and wait until nightfall:
- The northern side of the Quidditch Stadium, northwest of the Hogwarts Grounds.
- This location should be instantly marked on your map when you do the “The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom” quest.
- Southwest of San Bakar’s Tower, in the Forbidden Forest.
- South of Feldcroft.
- Near the entrance of the Poidsear Coast.
